If you take a little walk to the edge of old Bratislava, go across the tracks, past the bridge, past the square, and past the station. On the top of a tranquill hill, you'll come across a timeless, white building that doesn't look like any other in Bratislava, and yet perfectly fits to that district. A couple of decades ago, it was a maternity hospital ; in the years 2000, it is Residence Ma Maison. "We had couple of travellers that were part of the emigration process in Czechoslovakia during the 60ies and 80es", says Branislav, who works at the Hotel."They are now coming to Slovakia to visit their families, and whenever they find out that they actually were born here too, it just makes them feel great and even more committed to this place." At the entrance of the Residence, you may find Little Nicole, the manager's daughter, who is barely 4 years old. When she shyly smiles at you, she makes you feel like you're already part of her family. That's the whole concept behind the residence. You don't have a room, you have your own apartment. You don't have a restaurant : you have your own kitchen. You don't have any bar, but you can share a bottle of champagne from the mini-bar with your neighbours in your own living room... Each suite, is huge, 60m² at least, and the lights and colours of each room makes them seem even more spacious. They're only designed with modern furnitures that look brand new, as if you were meant to make them your own ; and even if you only stay two days there, you will leave with the priceless feeling you have "lived" in Bratislava, like a home away from home. The businessmen themselves often go there with their families... The service there is as satisfying as anything you would expect from a luxury hotel. Even the croissants and pains au chocolat were surprisingly good for Slovakian ones – light, buttery but not greasy. The service is more than generous and punctual, they do their best to make you feel you're part of the family. You'll leave Ma Maison Residence as if you were leaving your own home, dreaming this could be one day your secondary house.
