Fear in the City : The culture of fear is an integral aspect of urban life.

Strach ve městě Kultura strachu neodmyslitelně patří k velkoměstkému prostředí. Nebezpečí plynoucí z koncentrace velkého množství lidí, zvětšující se anonymity a sociálních rozdílů vnímali obyvatelé měst už v době růstu městských aglomerací ve středověku.


The dangers resulting from any large concentration of people, enhanced by the anonymity and social differences felt by urban residents, have evolved in city agglomerations since the middle ages. Some threats emerge within community (criminality, riots and revolution), others come from outside, be them fear of natural catastrophe, disease, or God's punishment. Fear changes as it is passed on with the dynamics of urban life. And there is terrorism, or automobile accidents.
