The Cases of Dr. Touret @ Divadlo Ponec

What if  you were suddenly invited by the actors on the stage to share champagne with them and raise a toast? What if the English and the French interpreters of Dr. Touret, who speaks Czech, decided that his words are not interesting enough to be translated for the audience? What if the efforts of a man to fly like a bird were finally rewarded, although only in a fictional world (a mental asylum)? All this and much more is bound to happen in the dramatically diverse world of this unpredictable piece.

The Cases of Dr. Touret will make you wonder about the fine line between sanity and insanity, reality and fiction, organization and improvisation (especially if a cute little girl decides to jump on the stage and stand there staring at the actors – it actually happened!).

The actors manage to create an involving, cheerful atmosphere, breaking the barriers between them and the audience and also blurring the borders of different narrative levels and genres. No plot to follow, rather a journey into the minds of people imprisoned in their own peculiar worlds.

The whole performance is made even more enjoyable by the musical accompaniment of Jakub Xavier Baro, who plucks the strings of his guitar and of all the madmen treated by Dr. Touret.
