Interview with the Eagles of Death Metal

Federalists of Death Metal?

By Marika and Martina Čermaková

IMG had 3 pre-arranged phone interviews with Jesse Hughes, from Eagles of Death Metal.
Miffed but not maligned, we showed up at Lucerna for the fourth pre-arranged interview and scored.  However, we missed the show (due to the utter unbelievability  that the venue would prefer to run an 80's nite over a concert).

M: (describing the methods and intent of Provokator.org Map-a-zine) It's a pretty socialist idea .
J: The form of socialism I love.
M: As opposed to...
J: ...the form of socialism I truly don't love.
M: Which is...
J: I'm a conservative.
M: I find it really interesting that you are a conservative.
J: I'm an old-fashioned—more of a federalist.
M: Did you actually write for some of the Republican conventions?
J: I wrote public speeches—don't know if you can call them Republican-- yeah.
M: How did you finesse them to make them sound more...

Cerny: I thought someone would find out sooner

(original article from the Prague Daily Monitor)

by Jiří Peňás

ImageArtist David Černý says he himself is curious what will happen next. He surprised Europe with a work of art that proved to be a big hoax. The provocative sculpture that was installed at the European Council headquarters was presented as the joint effort of 27 European artists. The day after its installation, it became apparent that the harsh caricatures of EU countries were created by David Černý and several of his friends.

After the revelation, David Černý released a press statement in which he apologised to the Czech government. In an interview with the online daily Týden.cz, the artist gives us his take on the recent developments surrounding the controversial sculpture.

INTERVIEW SERIES (Danielle de Picciotto / Alexander Hacke) - Neubauten.org

Ship of Fools by Alex Hacke & Danielle De Picciotto
18.10 @ Kino Lucerna, Performance and Documentary presentation
Interview with Provokator.org, Marika - Instigator in Chief of IMG

When witnessing Danielle De Picciotto and Alexander Hacke perform or in the midst of a press conference their intensity and direction is intense, driven and focused. To observe them integrating at a party setting, a small record shop concert or at the after-party of a show, it’s as if two children were left unattended by their parents to wander off and interact with all the amazing and troublesome things the world has to offer.

They are both equally amazed, astonished and perturbed with what they encounter. Taking copious notes of their experiences and integrating their observations with their art, or being curator for the impressions and artistic expressions of others.

Interview with The Toasters

In the wake of Czech Republic’s Mighty Sounds festival, Provokator caught up with one of the main acts, The Toasters. As well as The Toasters being one of the longest active American ska bands, with nine studio albums under their belt, their founding member Robert “Bucket” Hingley is responsible for the now-defunct Moon Ska and the still-booming Megalith ska-record labels. In short, there’s no one more qualified to talk about the state of ska and the current music and festival scene in the world, let alone Eastern Europe…

Provokator Gets The Hives

By Marika Ley

P – Who is Randy Fitzsimmons?

MD- Our mentor,

NA- We can say what he is but not who he is.

NA- He’s a sixth person, sixth member of the band, he’s the guy that brought us all together, he’s part of what we do – mostly the song writing, he’s a big part of what we do but he’s not in the band as such.

P- Does he live at Hives manor?

NA- We’re not allowed to say.

P - Is he a style guru as well?

NA- Not as much as the songwriting. If he has ideas he’ll leave little notes or he drops us a line when he has an idea.
