10th - 12th Oct '08,

Location: Ventpyramide Vösendorf, Parkallee 2, A-2334 Vösendorf, Austria

This year's three-day Cultiva International Hemp Fair will take place for the first time in the Austrian capital, Vienna. The festival, whose slogan is "Connecting Cultures," will bring people from across Europe to converge October 10 through 12 on the Eventpyramide Vösendorf, a 42 meter-tall glass pyramid-enclosed tropical garden and also Austria's biggest greenhouse.

A variety of sponsors, including Absinth Import & Vertrieb, Advanced Hydroponics, Viva Sativa and World Light Systems will be present in the exhibition hall. Over the course of three days, a dozen speakers will orate at the congress and host workshops on subjects including the history of hemp, its therapeutic use in Canada, the limits of drug tests and even a reading from the rhymed book "Hanf im Glück" ("Hemp in Luck").

After sunset each day, Cultiva-goers will find themselves treated to a music festival. DJs, VJs and fashion modeling will bring an audio-visual element to the fair, with what event planners promise to be a "Caribbean flair." Among the DJ line-up are Karl Moesti, Scheibosan, Night Nurse and Joyce. The full music schedule can be found at www.cultiva.at.

The festival is open from 11:00 until 19:00 each day. Day passes for the fair are 15 Euro at the box office, and 12 Euro for students and disabled people, but you can purchase tickets ahead of time for 2 Euro off the box office price. Sweet.
