Few summer festivals combine exciting music and leisure as successfully as the award-winning Colours of Ostrava (July 12-15). Named “Best Music Event of the Year” at the 2005 Anděl Awards (the Czech equivalent of the Grammy Awards), Colours festival will feature performers on 10 stages in parks throughout the city. Now in its sixth year, the festival will be headlined by the France-based Gipsy Kings, famous for blending pop and flamenco styles...

Famed British singer-songwriter Marianne Faithfull, riding the crest of newfound popularity, will make her festival debut this year. In 2006, spokesman Jiri Sedlak praised the festival’s tradition of unique performances. “In the variety of exciting bands from all over the world, everyone can find his or her own great band,” Sedlak said. “This festival appeals to young audiences seeking new musical experiences.”
