Join over 200,000 people getting into a State of Exit this year at the fantastic Petrovaradin Fortress sitting pretty on the banks of the Danube in Serbia.

The festival began in 2000 as a riverside musical protest against Slobodan Milošević, and came to a close, not coincidentally, days before the historic election that began his long-overdue fall from grace. The following year saw the sun rise over the infamous Dance Arena for the first time as Exit found its official home in the labyrinthine tunnels, moats and walls of the 17th century citadel. Not just a political festival, Exit draws some of the world’s best musicians as well as some of the world’s most dedicated partiers to the provincial Serbian town of Novi Sad. Book planes, trains and automobiles early, and while the camp grounds may have a life of their own, if you actually want some sleep, book a bed at one of the local schools that opens its doors to revelers. Exit is an odd festival in one way: it does not run all day. The Dance Arena closes at about 9pm, when the after party is just beginning...
