Walter Schreifels has already left his mark on the history of rock 'n' roll as a musician, a songwriter and a producer. Over the course of his career his music and his words have driven many a kid to shake their fists at the world around them, myself included. Walter is the guy who drove the bands he played in to find success with his passion and commitment, but was usually too humble to take credit for it. In the late 1980's he played in several New York hardcore bands which left their mark on hardcore culture for generations to come, most notably Youth of Today and Gorilla Biscuits. Gorilla Biscuits being a band whose lyrics mattered to the audience as much as the music. From there he moved on to form the somewhat metal influenced Quicksand, the poster child of the post-hardcore scene, and then on to the indie-rock band, Rival Schools. In the mid-90s Walter got back together with his Gorilla Biscuits bandmates, to form CIV, a group whose album sold many copies in the mainstream market but, in this girl's opinion, lacked the musical drive of Gorilla Biscuits and broke the hearts of Gorilla Biscuit fans from coast to coast.

On September 9th Walter Schreifels comes to Prague to play an acoustic set at Klub 007. He will be supported by Prague's favorite bartender, musician and vocalist, Austin Lucas. Walter has always been loved for his impeccable song writing, even when he wasn't singing the lyrics he wrote and often not taking the credit for the words that he penned, people still hung on to every single one of Walter's words. This show will give Praguers a chance to see Walter Schreifels perform songs, that were written for Gorilla Biscuits and Quicksand, acoustically. It is an opportunity that is certainly not to be missed. These days Walter has such a following among those in the music know that he is even the namesake for a punk bulletin board site discussing issues anywhere from Walter's upcoming shows to the history and future of groups that influence him, as well as those he influenced.
