If you like your grindcore served up on a platter with intestines and with a garnish of visceral splatter, be sure to get yourself up to Trutnov for the weekend of 10-13th July to partake in the sickest grindcore festival in Central Europe: Obscene Extreme (OEF).

Festival doors open on Thursday 10th July, starting at 19.00, and your daily dose of grindcore proceeds until 3am each night until Sunday. For those of you still standing, there's an aftershow party on Sunday 13th at Exit Chmelnice in Prague, featuring Splitter, Demonical, Disturbnce Project and Dead Beyond Buried.

The number of Czech, Slovak and Polish bands featured alongside international grind giants such as Impaled Nazarene and Desecration is a testament to the thriving grindcore scene in Central Europe. Far too often festivals neglect local bands in favour of larger groups, but at OEF they are venerated. With 50 bands from 21 countries and 5 continents you can have no fear of getting value for your crowns, and with band names like 'Cock and Ball Torture' and 'Rectal Smegma', you surely can't go wrong.

Advance tickets can be purchased through the Obscene E Shop. Don’t worry about just rolling up on the day, however. The festival area has a massive capacity, and since its conception in 1999 not a single grinder has been turned away from their doors for lack of space.

OEF veterans will already be aware of the tradition of sporting elaborate masks, but for newcomers to the festival, be sure to check out the pics on the OEF website for artistic inspiration.
