The outside view of Harfa Hall (near Vysočanská metro ) is not exactly glitzy, but when one walks in for the first time, the place screams “Paaartay!” The huge T-shaped venue has the capacity for up to 3,000 revellers.

Having hosted parties and events for 2 years, Harfa Hall has a history most venues would kill for. It has hosted major hip-hop, techno and skateboard events; has been a photo and movie studio for Playboy shoots; and was nearly greenlighted as a major studio location for the filming of Hellboy 2. It’s possibly most famous/infamous credit is for introducing the world to Vladko and co., for this is where the Vyvolený house once stood. The place has seen its fair share of action for sure, and management is keen to keep it going. “We want to encourage organisers of music, culture, extreme sports to host their events in this huge space that has so much energy,” Harfa organizer Adams Fuchs said. “We want cultural events that mean something to the people in Prague.”

ImageIn the future, the hall's promoters hope to host live gigs from local bands. The owners are building a recording studio in the back, which will give up-and-coming bands access to studio time and the potential to record gigs played at Harfa.

On May First of 2004, the hall held an outdoor graffiti/hip-hop event to celebrate the Czech Republic's EU accession. Many top graffiti artists from around Europe graced a wall with their dazzling tags and comic-strip images, while rhymes were spat and B-Boys spun. The art is still there and worth a look if you dig graffiti style. “We want graffiti artists in Prague to know that this wall is here,” co-organizer Richard Němec told me. “We want them to add their art on it and add to its history.”
