The experimental, electronica cultural fest that is the Sperm Festival is back for a third year (sorry to those hoping to celebrate and sell their seed if they've been mislead by the title!). The Sperm Festival is in fact a pioneering festival propagating new artistic innovations in music, arts and visual culture.
Offering a glut of performances from Czech and international artists that is sure satisfy even the most progressive of the populace. The festival is taking place over three days (March 6/7/8) at various locations over Prague.
Kicking off the festival on Thursday at La Fabrika theatre is an evening of minimal, self-proclaimed 'boundary pushing non-music' lead by the pioneering, German soundsmiths Raster-Noton and featuring performances from Frank Bretschneider, Bretone, Tropajn.
Climaxing on Saturday at Prostor Abaton with a cultural mishmash of music, art and cinematic events include music from Modeselektor & Pfadfinderei, Deadbeat, Joakim & His Ectoplasmic Band. More dancing can be done to Society Suckers, Electric Kettle, Ježíš táhne na Berlín, Jason Forrest and Pure. This mix of `breakcore, mashup and digital metal` is organised in cooperation with the Berlin Club Transmediale and curated by Jason Forrest & Pure. Audiovisual, cinematic offerings from all over Europe including music videos and screenings of British Semiconductor´s DVD World in Flux and Hungarians Viktor and Prell's audiovisual project Telesport, promises to be an exciting, cinematic experience. The festival will also be bringing 8-bit music to Europe in cooperation with the New York based Blip festival. If like me you're not exactly sure what 8-bit is, it's basically music which is heavily influenced by vintage video games. Entry for all 4 parts is 220/320 CZK, Abaton opens at 19:30, shows start at 20:00. Festival passes can also be purchased for 425 CZK. For more information see their website www.sperm.cz or their myspace profile. |
