Prague The Punk Crossroads

V červenci nás čeká ohňostroj mezinárodního punk a hardcore talentu. Legendární surf/punk rock the Queers (Lookout Records) přijedou 13.7. zahrát do klubu Matrix, a italskými pop-punkery Gino’s Eyeball. Je to čtyři roky od doby, kdy byli Queers na turné naposledy, a říká se, že tohle turné bude jejich vůbec nejlepší, protože Joe Queer přestal brát drogy...
Floridští Against Me! z Fat Wreck Chords přijedou předvést svůj nakažlivý jižanský anarcho-cow-punk... Jste zvědaví? Měli byste. Tahle kapela neustále stoupá na punkovém žebříku a vytrvale odmítá nabídky major labelů, vnucující jim své smlouvy.
Tyhle dva koncerty by vás měli navnadit na vůbec první punkový festival, organizovaný Provokatorem a Bat Country: Punk: The International Incident. Konat se bude 29.-30. července v Modré Opici. Záměrem tohoto festivalu je vlastním příkladem zdůraznit důležitost globální komunity, a protože Praha je křižovatkou mezi východem a západem a mezi jihem a severem, neexistuje lepší místo, kde by se dala ukázat možnost nenásilné, hravé punkové existence.  Vystoupí maďarští pop punkeři Bankrupt, crusteři Scheisse Minnelli ze Stuttgartu,  punkáči The Shocks z Berlína a elegantní a zábavný mix Cock Sparrer a Beatles, The Twinkles z Itálie. A tohle je pouze výběr z množství úžasných kapel, které na Punk: International Incident vystoupí. Budou se promítat filmy “DIY or Die: How to Survive as and Independent Artist” od Michael W. Dean s českými titulky, přítomny budou infostánky různých organizací a nezávislí prodejci módy. Ukažme světu, že zábava a koexistence není jenom možná, ale že to je punk... 
The month of July has been bursting at the seams with international punk and hardcore talent. Legendary surf/ punk rockers The Queers (Lookout Records) cruised through with Belgium’s frat boys turned pop-punkers Gino’s Eyeball at the Matrix Klub (July 13). It’s been four years since The Queers have toured Europe and now that Joe Queer gave up the drugs that were slowing him down – this tour has been said to be the best ever.
Fat Wreck Chords recording artists Against Me! From Gainesville, Florida (also home to Hot Water Music and Less Than Jake) also assaulted us (Matrix, July 21) their brand of infectious anarcho-southern- cow-punk: curious? You should be. This band has been steadily climbing the punk rock ladder with major labels harassing them to sign up with them and leave their loving independent label, which thankfully they will never do.
These shows primed the punk pumps for Provokator and Bat Country’s first punk music fest, Punk:The International Incident (Modra Vopice, July 29-30). The focus of this fest is to stress the importance of global community by example and since Prague is the crossroads between East and West, North and South there is no better place to prove the possibility of a peaceful, playful punk existence. Bands such as progressive pop punkers from Budapest – Bankrupt, will be sharing the stage with Stuttgart’s crusty Scheisse Minnelli, The Shocks rapid fire punk from East Berlin, and fashionable fun with a ‘Cocksparrer meets the Beatles’ twist from Italy’s The Twinkles. These are just some of the terrific bands that will be at  Punk: The International Incident. Other features of the fest are the movie “DIY or Die: How to Survive as and Independent Artist” by Michael W. Dean (Czech subtitles), awareness organization information tables, and independent clothing merchandisers. Show the world how fun and co-existence is not only possible, it’s punk.
