Smokey aint got nothin' on these Bandits: The Crosstops bring their Trucker Punk to Prague previously published in Think Again Magazine By Marika Mix Jerry Springer, Peterbilt trucks, Ricki Lake and early NO FX into a blender, strain over iced Pabst Blue Ribbon, and serve with a Merle Haggard sense of humor - dearest ladies of pink house coats and gentelmen of dingy trucker hats I give you The CrossTops persona.
This outfit of white trash 18 wheeler road warriors (who'll be traveling in a rental van) claim to be a perfect cross section of America's darkerside, having sprung from a lonely Kentucky truckstop (yet they actually assembled in a Bay Area garage circa 1997 by former members of Gwar, Rich Kids on LSD and Me First & the Gimme Gimmes). The CrossTops have produced a mix of country music, allegory and comedic irony with a speed freak punk aesthetic. “We try to be more traditional and country-esque” Barry Ward explained in a San Francisco Examiner interview, “I've heard some country [music] that was more whacked out and in my opinion, more punk than punk.” The faux rednecks will be strutting they're trucker stuff at Burundi, BoĊivojova 15 in Zizkov, October 18th with Rude Gorilla (cz/us). This will be an early show kids starting at 20:00 and tickets as cheap as beef jerky (100kc!!).
