Fringe organisers are planning the biggest off season yet with the 4th Year of the Fringe Comedy Nights and the all new Winter Fringe, a cheeky echo of the best of the Fringe in May.

An exciting winter edition of the summer Fringe bringing world comedy, theatre and music to Prague to warm up your winter nights. Among the very prestigious guests this year, we can mention some of them.

The Stephen Frost’s Impro Allstars kick off the season, returning to Prague for a third visit with more of their improvised madness, followed quickly on the heels by charismatic comic Stephen K Amos . A newcomer to Prague but comedy god on the circuit, Stephen is a regular at the Fringe in Edinburgh and performs at all of the world’s major comedy festivals. As for The Winter Fringe, it is kick started by Scottish singer songwriter Andi Neate returning to Prague for a sixth time.

Thursday 13th
Why? + Anathallo @  Klub 007 Image

For those still unfamiliar, WHY? is the psychedelic, guitar-pop, folk-hop brainchild of Yoni Wolf, a Cincinatti, Ohio native with a history of bold accomplishments. In his earlier days, Wolf co-founded the famously experimental Anticon label/collective and earned critical acclaim as one-third of the seminal cLOUDDEAD project (with Subtle frontman Dose One and DJ/producer Odd Nosdam). Today, he and his WHY? bandmates continue their growing legacy (2005’s “Elephant Eyelash” was one of the year’s most talkedabout independent albums) with their most crucial, coherent record to date. Their latest release “ Alopecia “ is a collection of small suicides acted out in poem and sung over rich musical creations.

Saturday 15th
Laundry – Djs Marwin Shamma , Lillou @ Zero Image

Marwin Shamma has been playing since 2000. As a DJ, he had chance to introduce himself to public in - for lot of people legendary club - Mazany Kralicek, where he successfully represented his first residential night called "Marwin’s room". That time, we could find in his case styles on the boarder of French deep house and light tech house.

Later he became a resident in MIX Club, where he also had a lot of parties alongside another resident and one of the promoter of the club, Michal Dvorak aka DJ Majkl. Marwin performs a slightly sharper sound, which varied from tribal house, tech-house to progressive.

Clearly Rezurex has risen from the grave and awoken the dead. The Levellers @ Palac Akropolis Image

The Levellers are a popular English rock band influenced by punk and traditional English music. They are based in Brighton, England where they were founded in 1988. There are several stories regarding how they got their name; from the Levellers, a radically democratic faction of Oliver Cromwell's New Model Army; as a reference to "The Level", a flat open space near where members of the band used to live in Brighton; or simply, according to guitarist, Simon Friend, a word they chose from a dictionary.[1] Strongly interested and outspoken about green anarchism issues the band have built up a strong and devoted fanbase, despite being nearly universally ignored by mainstream critics. The band have been spokespeople for a number of issues including campaigning against the Criminal Justice Act (and its measures against rave parties [2]) and various anti-capitalist and environmental issues. They continue to tour extensively around Britain and Europe but maintain a mutual dislike with the music press which stems from their early days.

Monday 17th
Monster Magnet @ Roxy Image

Monster Magnet is an American stoner metal/stoner rock band, often cited as one of the most successful and influential in the genre. Hailing from Red Bank, New Jersey, the group was founded by Dave Wyndorf (vocals and guitar), John McBain (guitar), Tom Diello (drums), and Tim Cronin (vocals and bass). The band first went under the name “Dog of Mystery” and later “Airport 75”, before finally settling on “Monster Magnet”.

In 1989, Monster Magnet released two demo cassettes; “Forget About Life, I’m High on Dope” and “I’m Stoned, What Ya Gonna Do About It?”. The band’s first ‘official’ release was a self-titled EP from Glitterhouse Records of Germany. In 1991 the band signed with Caroline Records and released their first full length album, the cult classic Spine of God, in 1991. The next release was a bizarre 4 song EP titled Tab which included, among two other marathon length songs, a 32 minute track called “Tab…”. McBain was fired soon after, due to personality conflicts between himself and Dave Wyndorf. He was replaced by Atomic Bitchwax guitarist Ed Mundell; who holds the position to this day.

The year 1993 saw the release of the album Superjudge. While the album was released on major record label (A&M Records) and is considered a cult favorite among fans of the band’s earlier work, the album did not sell very well.
