The Cardigans are coming to Prague! After a well-deserved slumber they are touring Europe in support of their new e.p. 'Om Gud Vill'.  This quintet from Sweden, with a long history of recordings and live performances took a break to re-energize and find the core of their musical inspiration. We are happy to know they’ve emerged once again and will be making an appearance in Prague at the end of April, just in time for Mayday!

Expression which is high in emotional sensitivity, a never-ending perception about the complications of being in relationships, detailed, honest, and sometimes brutal self-analysis, and their ability to create visual imagery with their lyrics, are just a few of the factors that have kept me hooked for years. Not only do they touch on the topics of love, pain, spiritual connections, loneliness, misunderstandings, and new beginnings; they paint pictures about them enabling the listener to feel, taste, and become engulfed in the painfully beautiful emotional process we tend to forget about in this fast-paced world.  And it’s all done with relaxing melodies, guitar riffs, light drums, and a tempo that is easily listenable and unobtrusive. Nina’s sweet vocals encourage you to listen and swallow all of these very real topics, giving you the confidence to find an understanding of your own personal experiences and disconnections, and digest them while in fact connecting.

ImageConsisting of Nina Persson on vocals, Peter Svensson on guitar, Bengt Lagerberg on drums, Magnus Sveningsson on bass, and Lasse Johansson on keyboard and acoustic guitar, the group has survived the trials and tribulations of maintaining friendships since their teens and working together in a band since the mid 90’s. Originally from Jonkoping, Sweden, a town who’s only feature is their 52 churches, the group decided to move to Malmo to widen their opportunities. Since then they’ve toured the world and established an extremely dedicated fan-base, which is very well taken care of and respected by the band. The efforts to answer fan questions and maintain an open dialogue is remarkable and only adds to the humanity of the members of the group. Mangus keeps the website up to date and has friendly conversations with fans on a seemingly daily basis.

The Cardigans is not the sole focus of these members’ lives due to other bands, acting pursuits (Nina’s movie debut "Om Gud Vill"), and their families, but we can still look forward to future recordings from the band. They have a very detailed website packed with interviews, band biography, discography, fan Q&A’s, upcoming tour schedule, lyrics, and general information.

Initially delving into the pop world and earning a huge amount of recognition from their 1st single “Love Fool”, the band has chosen through the years to veer from their light, happy beginnings, and focus more on the heavier, more symbolic and metaphorical side of songwriting and musical creation. Music to them is not a business, but a chance to analyze and understand the process of their lives and experiences. It is this honest approach that has earned them a huge level of respect and appreciation from their fans.We are looking forward to seeing their Prague performance and excitedly anticipate all future endeavors.
