Bordercrossing Berlin - The English Language Literary Magazine was launched on 2nd December 2006. The debut and second issues of this beautifully-designed, illustrated, 170 plus page publication are bringing to the attention of an interested German readership, as well as to the anglophone population, Berlin's importance as a hot-bed of English language literary talent at the beginning of the 21st century.
Bordercrossing features new prose and poetry from Berlin-based authors and introduces anglophone writers from the European continent, new art and illustration, interviews and articles on literature and translation. Bordercrossing Berlin is already creating waves in Berlin and beyond, bringing together the scene here and providing a point of connection to the anglophone literary scenes in other European countries: issue 3 will be launched on 7th December in Berlin. Additionally, the live pendance to Berlin’s English language literary magazine sees regular readings around the city featuring authors published in the print magazine. In the past these have included Matthew Sweeney, Louise Welsh as well as many as yet unestablished writers and poets presenting their work. Upcoming readings and open mic slot after each event include two Prague-based writers, Joshua Mensch and Marc Saleme, on 21st October at the writer’s collective Lettrétage (www.lettretage.de), Cecile Rossant, Nygil Murrell and Paradox Paul at the Art Pub Wallywoods on 4th November and Tom Bass (Budapest) and Jacalyn Carley (Berlin) at East of Eden Bookshop on 13th November.
