All right, so maybe there’s no live broadcast yet, the streaming quality could stand improvement, and the website is a little low on content, but for Dieda, the longtime subculture radical who is also the founding member of Ladrogang Promotions, and the Dread Beat Squad sound system, it’s a well-rooted beginning of their ambitious online radio project. With the intent to advance quality drum’n’bass, jungle, breakbeat, 2step, old school, and freestyle beats packaged in hand-picked, continuously updated setlists, Dieda spent five months scraping together resources and weighing the two mind-itching prospects: to go legal or not...
 When legal came in a can-do coat (AB radio) for a will-do price (6,500 Kč/month), Dieda accepted. Since September 2006, the DNB radio streams the works of various Czech DJs and sound systems and the occasional live show feeds like one from January’s Basscamp at Kopřivnice. “The idea is to go live eventually,” says Dieda. The idea too, is to be able to operate with multiple streaming software --Winamp being a necessity--, to improve the Dread Beat Squad website to include the radio’s program, and to hoard a supporter base big enough to sustain the radio’s existence. Yes, that is the idea. Now comes the challenge of finding befitting sponsors and sworn supporters. “We’re wholly open to all who want to give us money,” explains Dieda.
