The Olomouc branch of the Amnesty International (AI) organised the "Chinese prison Olympics" on Tuesday in support of two unjustly imprisoned men, Hu Jia and Yang Chunlin, the branch's head Monika Meislova told CTK.

"We want to point to the violation of human rights in connection with the organisation of the Olympic Games in Beijing and achieve the release of the political prisoners," Meislova said.

She recalled that one of the prisoners was sentenced to 3.5 years behind bars because he sent an electronic letter to the European Parliament pointing out that China did not meet the promises it gave before the organisation of the Olympics.

Outside a dormitory, AI organised untraditional sports events, such as jump over barbed wire, run with shackles and escape from prison.

Participants in the event also signed a protest addressed to China's Justice Ministry.
