Today people are encouraged to reflect on Martin Luther King Jr.- the man, the legacy. credit : www.mlkday.org At times a controversial figure, he led Americans in a non-violent fight against segregation and social injustice. In a relatively short span, he helped Americans of African decent gain freedoms that had yet to be realized since the hopes of equality were first brought on by The Emancipation Proclamation. The importance of this day lies not just in remembering the man, but also being aware that his fight is not finished- in America or around the globe.Learn more, the official website of The King Center in Atlanta.
People reflect on what MLK jr. means to them... Proof that his work is not done, and that while segregation is illegal, racism still permeates our society- lying in wait like a dormant virus, to infect the ignorant and unsuspecting- we discovered a website (www.martinlutherking.org) that poses as a legitimate historical reference. We stumbled upon it in search valid material. The thought of young children browsing and finding this is of far more concern than some indiscriminate peeps at a little T&A (boobs and buns)! Provokator does not endorse the views of this site and only provides this link to increase awareness of it's lack of authenticity
