PRAGUE, Czech Republic -- Czech Republic became the latest country to express outrage over the military crackdown in Myanmar by protesting China's support of the country's hard-line military regime.  Approximately 200 protesters led by Amnesty International and the Burma Center in Prague attempted to deliver petitions signed by Prague residents and Czech politicians to embassy officials who refused to answer the embassy's front door.  The petitions demand that China end its support of the regime who recently repressed peaceful Burmese pro-democracy demonstrators by killing hundreds and arresting thousands, including Buddhist monks.  Although apparently trying to polish its public image ahead of the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China has done little more than issue weak statements condemning the violence while continuing to tolerate and finance the Myanmar military's brutal actions.
