07/05/2008

Jon Kennedy @ Roxy / 21:00

A music created primarily from homemade instruments, found sounds, and John Cage-style modifications of existing instruments. Stripped down and often slightly distorted, the beats are usually front and center, tunes full of funky homemade charms.

08/05/2002

Polaris @  Alfred Ve Dvore / 20:00

A drifting theatre show about loneliness, friendship, waiting for help that doesn’t come, about fidelity and hope.

Vulkanik @ Matrix Club / 19:00

If Crass had spoken with beats rather than riffs, and if Kraftwerk had planned to write Never Mind The Bollocks before Mc Laren even figured Johnny Rotten could actually sing, this is what they would have sounded like. DJ Genocide sounds miles away from what you'd expect from french electro, like 100 larzac teknivals smashed all together.

Boris @ Palac Akropolis / 20:30

Japanese cult favorite sludge/doom rock trio Boris takes their name from a song on grunge godfathers the Melvins' Bullhead album. They also have a lot in common with the Melvins musically, including a fondness for heavily down-tuned guitar/bass tones and exceedingly slow tempos. Also, despite the unpretentious psychedelic/stoner rock imagery that accompanies much of their work, there is an ambitiously experimental aspect to much of it. Their albums, for example, have tended to be massive conceptual projects: Absolutego, in its original form, was a single 65-minute track...

10/05/08
Global Marijuana March @ Parukarka Park (P3) from 14:30 to 22:00
The Global Marijuana March began in 1999 and also goes by the name of the Million Marijuana March (MMM). Over 450 different cities worldwide have participated since its creation. It is a celebration embracing cannabis culture as a personal lifestyle choice. Participants unite to discuss, promote, entertain and educate both consumers and non-consumers alike...

The Spladash @ Club Kino Černošce / 20:30

Silk Workshop @ Hala C, Drahobejlova 17a, Praha 9 / 16:00

Silkscreen printing, seriografie... DIY !

12/05/08

We Are Wolves @ Klub 007 Strahov / 20:00

A gang of three, four including rock. We are Wolves imposes a music that’s both free and honest, like the celestial lightning on the mystic mountain. It’s a post-punk landscape filled with analogue trees. It’s like rock after the post-modern explosion.

Lousy @ Bordo / 20:00

13/05/08

Offminor @ Chateau Rouge / 20:00

Including guitarist Matt Smith from Hot Cross, a seething mass of hardcore energy and screamo vocals from philadelphia's. Matt Smith's music has managed to avoid the pitfalls of the "side project syndrome" and evolved into an exciting and challenging entity all its own.

The Toasters @ Futurum or Klub 007 / 20:00

One of the most important American ska bands, the Toasters did much to popularize the genre on the underground scene in the mid- to late '80s, laying the groundwork for later third-wave bands like the Mighty Mighty Bosstones and ska's subsequent explosion in popularity in the mid- to late '90s. British expatriate Rob "Bucket" Hingley formed the Toasters in New York City in 1982 after discovering that the 2-Tone ska he loved had made virtually no inroads into the American music scene. He gathered several employees at the comic-book store he managed to form the band's first incarnation, releasing their first single, "Beat Up," in 1983. Hingley also formed his own label, Moon Ska Records, to counteract skepticism from major labels that ska would ever prove popular in the U.S.; Moon Ska has since grown into the largest independent ska label in the country...
