Lipless Lincoln And The Sinners @ Jet Club / 20:00
With friends like Marcel Duchamp or Mahatma Gandhi on their myspace , Lipless Lincoln & The Sinners is the one Czech band that is the most likely to be on the cover of Artrocker's cover by the end of the year. Their influences are impressive, including everyone from Television, The Velvet Underground and Richard Hell to Les Savy Fav and Art Brut... If they don't release the outstanding debut album we expect, maybe they could still work for Provokator as rock critics ?
12/06/08 Boo @ Palac Akropolis / 19:30 Although guitarist Josef Ostransky and drummer Pavel Koudelka are barely known outside Czech Republic, they played in cult group Dunaj before forming Boo in the late 90s. Striking is the elegance they play their instruments with, and so are their incredibly disparate influences, wich mostly come from their own previous bands. Year after year, they managed to find their own, unique style, and a most mature one since every arrangement beautifully serve the melodies. They've been working on their sound so much while travelling around Europe that they now feel much more than just a substitute to Dunaj: they're a full-fledged band ready to surpass the work that previously made them legendary... 13/06/08
Tom Middleton @ Palac Akropolis / 20:00
This is where you have to take your grand parents if you want to introduce them to electro music - it's so downbeat even their Golden Retriever can dance to it. Such music was once called "Ambient House". Basically, it's Easy Listening - but without the tunes. Since Tom is so proud of being a classically trained Pianist as well as a Cellist from Cornwall, one might say he just took everything that was boring in music and added breakbeats to it. Right. Tom, nevertheless a great producer and Aphex Twin's most famous student. Don't worry, this gig shouldn't be as long as his records (Renaissance 3D is 5 hours long, and it's not even a concept album). Certainly someone who's penned so many hours of music must have at least 20 good minutes in his DJ set.

Prague Gothic Picnic @ Stromovka / 14:00 CANCELLED !!! Projekt Minutky @ The National Museum / 19:00
You’re broke so you’ve probably taken advantage of everything that free museum day has to offer, right? Incorrect my thrifty friends. This month it’s going to kick off with some experimental theatre before moving on to dance and eventually a K9 Fashion show. Finally a social event where you don’t have to feel embarrassed by being less stylish than people’s dogs. Decadance @ Kolbenova 40 / 21:00
The biggest gay dance party in Europe has chosen Prague and, believe us, the event is going to be huge. Two stages will be set up for this great entertainment show : the main one, "gay friendly", will welcome the following performers, Dj Quintin (NL), Dj MIKE (B), Dj Loutka (CZ) + Charlie One, Dj Andi Mik (A), Dj Dan Cooley (CZ). The other one, scamper, will be a "stricly gay" stage with Dj Lumiere, Dj Slavo,Dj Souky, Dj Sound Tropez. At the time we write these lines, 814 tickets have been sold.
Be ready to party and get messy with handsome dancers from 9pm to 10am in a large industrial hall for one of the most considerable social event for gay community. Heterosexuals are, of course, invited to enjoy a sexy vibe and an inspiring club scene, and maybe come to the dark side of the force...
15/06/08 Sightings @ Klub 007 Strahov / 20:00 Sightings' deconstuctionist noise rock removes the melodies and hooks of standard rock and roll, leaving a mash of growls and feedback - from the high pitched grind in the guitar strings to the groan inside a bass amp. It's a destructive, post-punk mess, that beautifully references weird outfits like Einsturzende Neubauten as well as the early 80s no wave scene and noisy contemporaries like Wolf Eyes, Black Dice, Lightning Bolt and Ruins. 17/06/08 The Rats @ Jet Club / 19:30 Nope, they're not Mick Ronson's Rats, and for one good reason - he died 15 years ago.
Loser Life @ Jet Club / 20:30 A couple of years ago (ok: decades ago), lyrics were the pride of Punk. Back then, wven Sham 69 had to find their own, simple slogan. As far as music is concerned, Loser Life is an excellent and exciting band, combining a funky-style bass on speed to well-constructed melodic leads and clattering drums. That said, it's impossible to make out the lyrics, and if you check the lyrics link on their website, instead of blasphemous rants, this is what you will find : "Buy our LP. Buy our 7". Buy our 12". And buy our Tape." Do they owe us the lyrics ? Of course they do!
Stimul Festival Presents: Mike Patton & Zu @ Archa Theatre / 20:00
Veteran of too many projects to count Mike Patton, as part of Stimul Festival, does what he does best: Whatever he feels like. From Faith No More to Lovage to Tomahawk, Patton’s eclectic resume is stocked with quality. You might not know what you’ll get from him but you can be damn sure you’ll like it. 18/06/08 Matmos @ Divadlo Archa / 20:30 Matmos is M.C. Schmidt and Drew Daniel, aided and abetted by many others. In their recordings and live performances over the last nine years, Matmos have used the sounds of: amplified crayfish nerve tissue, the pages of bibles turning, a bowed five string banjo, slowed down whistles and kisses, water hitting copper plates, the runout groove of a vinyl record, a $5.00 electric guitar, liposuction surgery, cameras and VCRs, chin implant surgery, contact microphones on human hair, violins, rat cages...
