30/04/08
ism (us) @ Chateau Rouge
Like a kindler, gentler Nine Inch Nails, New York's ism--lower case letters, please--have constructed a debut that's equal parts alternative and industrial. It's also big, bold, and dramatic. Singer/guitarist Andre Mistier, a Yale grad with a degree in comparative mythology, describes the group's inaugural effort as an exploration of "the animal and organic versus the technological and inorganic." (He's joined by Gerard Toriello on guitar, Leigh Battle on bass, and Mike Higgins on drums.). Seeing them play live is an intense and inspiring experience. Do yourself a favor and don't miss that concert!

Sham 69 (uk) @ Rock Cafe
Is Sham 69 one of the worst punk bands of the 70s ? Forget the skinheads, the fightings, the National Front and puzzling slogans such as "If the kids are united, we'll never be divided", and you'll find they had their fair share of chart successes. Oi!

1/05/08
Liebe Macht Frei @ Modra Vopice from 20:00

With Phil Shoenfelt, a veteran of the London, Manchester and New York punk and post-punk scenes, who formed in 1996 Southern Cross with Czech musicians Pavel Cingl, Pavel Krtous and Jarda Kvasnicka, and gradually gave his music a harder, rockier and more psychedelic edge, while still maintaining its roots in classic song structures.

3/05/08
The (International) Noise Conspiracy @ Cafe Na Pul Cesty
8 years ago, The Hives were not yet "Your New Favorite Band", and The (international) Noise conspiracy was the most respected band in Sweden. True to original punk ethics and forever indebted to The Stooges, they paved the way of 2000s revivalism back when everyone was whining in tune with Muse or Radiohead wanna-bes. Moreover, they're the greatest live band you're about to see - not just musicians, but tremendous energy.

3/05/08
Mission Statement @ Kino Evropa, Sídliště Březenecká, Chomutov.

Featuring INADE (de), VLADIMÍR HIRSCH (cz), TÁBOR RADOSTI (cz), KOTEL 26 (cz), SEISMIC OPERATOR (cz). See you there.

3/05/08
Spank @ Chateau Rouge from 23:00

What music, uhmmmm Indietronica? Eurotechno? Newdance? Bastardpop? Electroclash? Discopunk? No one really know but who cares, this is just about having fun.

4/05/08
Apse (us), Magik Markers (us) @ Klub 007 from 20:00
"There is a sense of breaking boundaries here, with some exceptional results. This five-piece from Boston and New York is very definitely a band to watch, all the more so as it has completely avoided many of the cliches of indie rock, especially (and thankfully) the screeching hysteria."- Helen Wright, MusicOhm (UK)
"Apse’s execution shows talent and self control, enticing but never obvious. They move from melancholy to menacing and back again using swelling guitars and endless corridors of sound. Apse might get very popular someday, but you’d never accuse them of being pop. Their ambitious music is inspiring and infinite." - Amp Camp

5/05/08
Shellac (us), Allroh (de) @ Palac Akropolis from 19:30
Shellac isn't just about Steve Albini (the man behind Pixies'Surfer Rosa, Nirvana's In Utero or Superchunk's singles) : it's also one of the most underrated bands of the 90s, At Action Park being one of the best debut albums of the decade. Shellac usually tours at a sporadic pace : don't miss them this time!

6/05/08
Cursed (ca), Monster (de), Daymares (pl) @ Klub 007

Metal Hardcore Punk, Cursed is said to be the loudest band in Canada to give you the tone. Check their myspace and see you at Klub 007 for a hell raising night.

Psychic TV (us) @ Roxy from 19:00

Psychic TV draws much of its inspiration from the literary underground, including situationist philosophy, William Burroughs (a professed fan), the Marquis de Sade, and Philip K. Dick. Leader P-Orridge has been branded a dangerous deviant in several publications, and police raided his home in 1992, seizing videos, books, and magazines following a television show concerning child abuse in which a Psychic TV performance art video was shown out of context.

7/05/08
Guided Cradle (cz/us), After the Bombs (ca) @ Klub 007 from 20:00

If you've never heard of them before, think that the GUIDED CRADLE was an instrument of torture christians used on unbelievers... Tonight is your last chance to see one of Prague's loudest bands, before they (definitely ?) move to Portland, Oregon.v

8/05/08
Vinohrady Open Air Concert @ Riegrovy Sady
