TURBONEGRO (Oslo, NOR)

Turbonegro (Turboneger in Norway) is a Norwegian punk rock band that was initially active from 1989 to 1998, and later reformed in 2002. Their style combines glam rock, punk rock and hard rock into a style the band describes as "deathpunk".

Among the band's main influences are Black Flag, Rolling Stones, KISS, Venom, Radio Birdman, AC/DC, Iggy Pop & James Williamson, Circle Jerks, Ramones, Alice Cooper, Negazione, The Dictators and The Stooges,as well as Norwegian rock like DumDum Boys, Raga Rockers and Jokke & Valentinerne

Their lyrics often attack political correctness; for example, the cover of the single "Bad Mongo" depicts Adolf Hitler as mentally retarded, and in the song "Hobbit Motherfuckers", they complain that there is "not enough suffering" and "not enough natural selection". The band says their music has superseded existing genres, so they dubbed it deathpunk as a way to avoid being pigeon-holed into musical groupings they felt they were above. Lyrics referencing the genre choice include ("gimme deathpunk baby, and I like it", from the song "Get it on"). Being a fun project with common predecessors (Sex Pistolswearing swastikas, etc), Turbonegro have been praised by some as playing the most up-to-date form of punk, and refusing to be categorized being nowhere as clearly expressed as in this anarchic blend of humour, shock and sexuality.

FLAMING COCKS (Praha, CZ)

The Flaming Cocks was at the beginning a side project of five musicians from Prague which has slowly become their main activity. The members come from different backgrounds, from different bands: Vertigo (ska), 2v1 (ska-punk), Drunken.. Boomerang (ska), Bad Tones (psychobilly) and Dreadrot (HC), but there..s one thing they all have in common and that is their passion for Rock..n..Roll! Influenced by bands like The Misfits, Turbonegro, Mötorhead, Mad Sin, The Peacocks but also by Elvis Presley and many others they've created their own version of punk, rock..n..roll, hardrock and hard core. Flaming Cocks play Turbo Rock..n..Roll! Their music is a mixture of punk playfulness and hard-core attack. All is wrapped up in a rock..n..roll veil. Slapping bass, melodic singalongs, hard guitars and attacking percussions are rushing ahead like a steam locomotive. Crazy drive! Flaming Cocks were formed in 2002 and have already played over 150 of gigs and have appeared on big summer festivals in Czech Republic such as Rock For People, Trutnov Open Air or Mighty Sounds, touered Germany, Austria and Hungary. The band has played with many great independent bands such as The Misfits, The Adicts, Demented Are Go, The Peacocks, Peter Pan Speedrock, Maxeem, No Comply, Up To Vegas, Defience and others. Their first album called Cockain was released in May 2006.

Three rocksteady legends for the price of two

On saturday night on the Mighty Sounds' main stage, the Provokator crew witnessed 'Rocksteady Explosion', a concert featuring Pat Kelly and Dave Barker. Just remember the old rocksteady sounds from the 60's and 70's - cause yes, Mighty Sounds follows the comeback trend of Jamaican legends.

You might not know their names but both were born in Kingston at the end of the 40's, and are rocksteady masters. This term is refers to the musical period that preceded the explosion of reggae in Jamaica. Pat Kelly's "How long will it take" was the biggest-selling Jamaican single in 1969, opening doors of the leading musical Jamaican production companies, then directed by Lee Scratch Perry and Phil Pratt. Dave Barker, also produced by Perry, had his hour of glory with his song "Double Barrel", which topped English charts in 1971.

Still in relatively good shape, despite their 60 years, the two singers provided more than expected...not the greatest concert of the century, but enough to satisfy nostalgic rocksteady fans!

All the others probably preferred the opening of the concert, by Christopher Ellis, who showed us that reggae music is still very current. Christopher, son of rocksteady legend Alton Ellis, a father of this genre and sometimes considered the most popular Jamaican singer pre-Marley, used to go on stage with his father before his death in 2008. This young Londoner singer-songwriter gave a powerful and energetic opening; he made the audience dance and move - every last person including us!

La fine équipe de Provokator a assisté samedi soir, sur la grande scène de Mighty Sounds, au concert Rocksteady Explosition, "feat." Pat Kelly et Dave Barker. Histoire de se remémorer le vieux son rocksteady des années 60-70 - car oui, même Mighty Sounds suit la mode du come-back des légendes de Jamaïque.

Leurs noms ne vous disent peut être rien. Pourtant, tous deux nés à Kingston à la fin des années 40, maîtres du rocksteady - utilisez ce mot pour la période musicale précédant l'explosion du reggae en Jamaïque - ils ont tous les deux connu des succès notables. La chanson de Pat Kelly "How long will it take" a été le single jamaïcain le plus vendu en 1969, lui ouvrant les portes des grandes maisons de production jamaïcaines, alors dirigées par Lee Scratch Perry et Phil Pratt. Dave Barker, également produit par Perry, a connu la gloire avec sa chanson "Double Barrel", numéro un en Angleterre en 1971.

Toujours en relative forme malgré leurs 60 ans, les deux chanteurs ont assuré plus que le minimum ... pas le concert du siècle, mais au moins de quoi satisfaire les nostalgiques du rocksteady !

Les autres ont probablement préféré la première partie du concert, assurée par Christopher Ellis, qui nous a montré que le reggae est une musique encore bien actuelle. Christopher, fils de la légende du rocksteady Alton Ellis, un des pères du genre et parfois considéré comme le plus grand chanteur jamaïcain pré-Marley, accompagnait souvent son père sur scène avant sa mort en 2008. Ce jeune auteur-compositeur londonien a assuré une première partie puissante et énergique, il a su faire danser et bouger le public, tout le public, et même nous, pas grands spécialistes du rocksteady !

SURVIVOR REPORT FROM MIGHTY SOUNDS [VOL.6]:
THE MIGHTY WIND CAN’T QUELL THE MIGHTY SOUND

This past 16th till the 18th of June the Capuv Dvur airport near Tabor was the stomping ground for Mighty Sounds VOL.6. The program featured around 150 artists representing nearly every aspect of ska, punk, reggae, psychobilly, rock, jungle, breakbeat, drum and bass and other genres. Although the party on the second day started resembling more of an autumn happening, due to the poor weather conditions and rain, the music and the atmosphere were definitely a manifestation of summer helped by the dedicated crowd that kept going and demanding “Jeste jednu!!!”

The constant and horrid traffic jam when approaching Tabor on Friday afternoon prevented many to enjoy the full program of the day. Natives Queens of Everything made a great use of the Bandzone stage as it has a more intimate feel, something that their established local fans appreciated and new ones could experience. Ireland’s The Klingonz took over the Jan Zizka stage, showing what 22 years of experience looks like. Yes, it does look like a mad psychobilly circus with everything from fire breathing to unicycles, scored by the band’s musical classics. In the meanwhile, Irie Révoltés, from Germany, took their reggae/hip-hop blend a step further, mixing faster rhythms and different instruments, to progress everyone from swaying to jumping. Moreover the notable abilities of the MCs were acting as an instrument on their own, combining with their admirable energy, preventing those at the Jan Hus stage to pause at any point. Gore’n’ roll at Mighty Sounds 2010 was brought from France and represented by Banane Metalik who had one of the most marking shows at the festival. Investing a lot in visual presentation, all band members were in zombie makeup (and character) and for the full horror experience there was a performer, who danced, acted and handled a chainsaw to help get the point across. As the live music ended, it was time to carry on at the Sado-Maso DJ or Radio 1 DJ stages where the ones with most drive were, till the early hours, stepping to some breakbeat, electrohouse and drum and bass.

Saturday started off as a scorcher of a day, with people chasing after the festival’s fire truck to cool off a bit. The Jan Zizka stage opened with Czech Rocket Dogz who had a lively show and were one more manifestation of the health of the local scene. Slovak punk rock veterans Davova Psychoza showed how dedication can be recognized by the audience and were allowed to leave only after completing two encores filled with numbers from their discography encompassing twenty-one years of existence . As darker and darker clouds started hovering above Capuv Dvur, Prague’s Fast Food Orchestra had no problem keeping those that came to see them in a happy, skankin’ mood during their entire show. This is the type of band where every member has a blast when playing and transfers it to the viewers, who in return never fail in numbers or in stamina.

At around 7 p.m. all hell broke loose; the weather that was indecisive during the whole day finally chose to open the skies, reign down on thee and stuck with it for the next 14 hours. A benefit for the re-cheduled Church of Confidence from Berlin, impressive at uniting punk, psychobilly and rock on the sheltered area of the Bandzone stage. In addition their show, attracted members from local and foreign bands like Mad Sin, Frantic Flintstones, Born to Lose and others, which gave a special feel of community to it, which should be one of the main goals of events of this character. The Jan Hus stage was acting as an audience magnet as Spaniards Ska P kicked off their lively and immensely fun set. Festival visitors were thrilled to listen to A La Mierda , Cannabis and all the other hits by one of the worldwide most successful ska bands at the moment and it was evident that this band has followers in the region that were going out of control and singing along (or at least tried to) in Spanish. With no time to rest, the clock struck for psychobilly/rock 'n' roll favorites Mad Sin who were returning to Mighty Sounds for the second time. The band reached every-one's high expectations and justified the presence of the unfailing gathering, celebrating in the rain and wind, standing on what was now mud. Texans Born to Lose gave full respect to the committed who remained to see them and it resulted in a unforgettable punk rock moment, with a complete disregard of the storm or any kind of personal discomfort and a clear focus on the music.

Sunday introduced itself with grayness, gloominess and no sign of the constant down pour stopping. To Mighty Sounds 2010’s pleasure, slowly the rain was the first one to go, followed by brightening of the sky and a possible spotting of a ray of sun latter in the day. USA’s Sworn Enemy shook things up, with their harsh sound; the concoction of hardcore and metal was welcomed and responsible for a few muddy mosh-pits. The Jan Hus stage had the pleasure of hosting Russkaja’s vodka infused madness. Coming from Austria they managed to get festival goers immensely hyped about their Russian folk/ska sound and it reflected in one of the most energizing parties of the event. All girl band Civet, from California attracted a lot of interest and introduced their angry punk rock to the Czech audience, that was definitely paying attention to the lyrics and looks. Super Pilot, a monster constructed by Slovak, USA and Czech members, conquered the Bandzone stage and stirred up a lot of curiosity with their raw punk rock and unapologetic performance (not for the meek), gathering more and more fans as the performance progressed . American punk legends H2O, in no way took their status for granted, but instead showed how they earned it ;people singing along and screaming through every song, legitimizing the admiration they received and the level of knowledge the followers possessed about their discography. Irie Mafia from Hungary calmed the event, keeping a swaying atmosphere with their reggae/dancehall mix and viewers took pleasure in the soothing notes. The time to jump again was announced by Pipes and Pints’ bagpipe and the local Prague group used the great chance of playing the home turf to motivate the already exhausted visitors, at the dusk of the last hours of the three day festival, which made the crowd feel like it’s just the beginning.

For the most resilient of fest-ers the program continued till the early hours, containing Brazilian Victor Rice’s dub set on the Sado-Maso DJ set. Other entertainment included Shopsky Sound rakija flavored Balkan music with visuals provided by a very persistent girl trying to jump on stage, numerous times and the nicest security guard politely carrying her away on just as many occasions.

Mighty Sounds 2010 was a great place to see smaller and bigger bands in a more interpersonal environment than at massive festivals. Groups took the chance to get to know their fans, hung around to see other musicians and in many cases waited in the same line 25 minutes for a beer as everyone else. With a consistently strong line up through the past six years and an dedicated fan base (that is somewhat weatherproof) it would be terrific if these characteristics are kept and Mighty Sounds can continue to be an anchor for the ska/punk/reggae scene of the region.

The Buzzcocks: Repeat Offenders

Where has the Orgasm Addict gone? The Buzzcocks on tour are older, wiser and apparently still able to whip up a frenzy — but is Viagra at the root of their continuing musical and masturbatory melodies?

Born in the aftermath of a 1976 Sex Pistols concert in Manchester, the Buzzcocks are among the last bands standing after contemporaries such as the Clash and the Ramones succumbed to the trials of time and hazardous living. Pondering the demise of the aforementioned luminaries — along with the Jam and an epidemic amount of start-up outfits from the early days of punk — Buzzcocks lead guitarist Steve Diggle is well-aware that his band has defied the odds. "Out of all those bands, we're the only ones that are left," marvels Diggle, who also contributes vocals. "With Joe Strummer dying, and most of the Ramones, well ..." He laughs nervously.

Tel Aviv, the biggest city in Israel, the most liberal one for sure. There is a beach and some skyscrapers, I assume…what else do I know…Oh right! There is the biggest gay scene in the whole Middle East!

Honestly, It's not much that I know (and I guess most of you as well) about Tel Aviv.

12 short movies portray the lives of homosexual people between conservative and liberal attitudes, the search for identity, the first crush, the Palestinian vagina organization, religion, jealousy, virginity and sex, of course!

The films differ hereby in a range of between professional and amateur, totally amazing and rather mediocre, absolutely revealing and those that leave a big question mark in your eyes!

Nevertheless, the advantage of a movie consisting of several short films is, that it's highly likely that there will be at least one you'll fall in love with.

Fucking Different Tel Aviv is definitely worth the visit. To learn more about the city, about Israel, its society and of course its gay scene.

The film will be screened two more times on Tuesday, 30.03. (18.45) and Wednesday 31.03 (15.15) at Febio Fest in CineStar Anděl.

CZECH DANCE PLATFORM - the best from Czech dance

The Czech dance platform is about to start!

This year´s Czech dance platform festival will within 5 April days offer 17 works, which represent the best from the area of contemporary dance and movement theatre. The programme which is prepared by the expert jury will be held from 16th to 20th April in the Prague´s theatres Ponec and Archa, Roxy/NoD, Studio ALT@ and Synagogue in Palmovka.

„It is heartwarming that there are still enough productions to choose from on the Czech scene. The jury consists of 4 members who endeavoured to consider properly the total number of those interested and attendance in the platform. The discussions on the new Czech works were very interesting and a bit controversial at times, which is part of art,“ describes the course of selection of the most successful works for the festival´s programme the manager of organizing civic association Tanec Praha Yvona Kreuzmannová. Advance sale of tickets from 90 CZK up has already started in the Ponec Theatre on 26th February. For more detailed information about the programme see www.tanecniplatforma.cz.

This year´s festival reflects upon the efforts of artists to join various dance-theatre genres. There will be presented the production The Cases of Dr. Touret for instance, in which the actress and mime Anna Polívková combines successfully acting, improvisation, dnace, movement, but also mime show. Further, site specific project Echoes by dance group ME-SA, which revives the spirit of the Synagogue´s site in Palmovka, is worth mentioning. The festival´s spectators can also see the production 100 Wounded Teras, which was awarded the prestigious prize of critics in the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh 2009. This year, the festival is also dedicated to families with children – on Sunday afternoon Bára Látalová will provide entertainment and involve them into the interaction on the stage using the work inspired by physical laws. The spectaors can also look forvard to the theatre-motion semi-opera The Crime and the punishment by Jan Komárek, which will be played on the industrial premises of the ALT@ Studio. Last but not least, there will also be presented the visual-dance work Fish by Lenka Bartůňková, the winner of the SAZKA Prize for „the discovery in dance“ 2008.

The Czech dance platform gives the general public the unique opportunity to see a wide selection of dance performances in a short period of time. „The festival will drag a spectator into the intensive whirl of dance, in which artists, experts, but also spectators will meet one another in the open atmosphere; this year´s motto is: Get Swept Away!, invites spectators to this event the festival´s manager Kateřina Višinská. For the performing companies, performers and choreographers the festival provides the space for meetings and discussions with foreign and native professionals: „…this year we will highlight the platform even more as an open space for international meetings of artists and producers which will serve for establishing the contacts among the creators and operators of foreign and regional theatres and festivals, particularly by means of debates and planned exchange of projects,“ adds Kateřina Višinská. In addition, after the end of each production the paying visitors will decide with their votes, as they did last year, who will be awarded the Prize for the Spectator 2010.

Already for the second time the theme of light design in contemporary dance will appear in the accompanying programme: in the opening part of the festival, there will be held an open discussion among light designers and technicians; the main programme then will be assessed from the formal, artistic-technical point of view by the expert jury including foreign members, who will during the open discussion on 20th April again award the prize for light design to the best domestic work. The accompanying programme under guidance of the Institute of Light Design is aimed at developing a broader technical debate on the issues of current events and establishing the tradition of meeting of domestic and foreign light designers.

Les Claypool's album "Of Fungi and Foe" is his latest album of all original music. This album is a collection of songs inspired by the projects he has been working on over the past few years, and also contains a jam session with Eugene Hütz the charismatic front-man of the band Gogol Bordello that turned into the track "Bite Out Of Life". Other musicians who appear on the cd include Lapland Miclovik, Mike Dillon, Sam Bass, Paulo Baldi, Cage Claypool, and Bryonn Bain.

"Sometime back I was commissioned to write soundtrack music for two projects that promised to have quite a bit of very intense and unique imagery. One was for an interactive game about a meteor that hits Earth and brings intelligence to the mushrooms within the crash proximity and the other was about a three thousand pound wild boar that terrorizes the marijuana fields of Northern California. Obviously the makers of the subsequent MUSHROOM MEN game and PIG HUNT film were very aware of my tastes and perspectives because the music oozed from me in such a natural way that I believe it came as much from my pores as it did my mind. Bye Bye Bicycle was formed on the west coast of Sweden, and in the beginning no one in the band took the project seriously. But the chemistry was real and it soon became apparent that Bye Bye Bicycle had potential. The group relocated to Gothenburg in 2007 to pursue their music full time.

The origin of the band name “Bye Bye Bicycle” is not certain but some of the band says it’s from a great bicycle robbery. Others claim it’s because they detest stupid “the” bands.

The band has never changed members, this is the impact of the band, their strength in a way. Because Bye Bye Bicycle has always been a strictly “members only” when it has been about the making of the music. No one get’s into the band. However since they found themself abit short of hands during live gigs they let in the good friend Nicklas Wennergren From the band “Mockingbird, Wish Me Luck”, as a piano and percussion stand in. Otherwise everything is just as normal in the world of Bye Bye Bicycle, the ambitions is as always skyhigh, and the members has always been waiting for perfect songs before making their debut album!

So their own expectations about upcoming debut album “compass” are high by nature. In summer 2008 Bye Bye Bicycle’s debut “compass” are sailing out of Gothenburg port. Time will tell where it all goes, but one thing is for certain, this one is not a sinking ship!

The Steepwater Band’s latest LP Grace and Melody represents the evolution of a genuine, hard-working rock n’ roll band unwilling to compromise the integrity of their musical values. The album is vital and optimistic; a fresh sound borne of classic influences but zero nostalgia.

The Steepwater Band formed in Chicago in 1998 ignited by a passion for the city's electric blues. The power trio who quickly progressed from covering Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker to writing compelling originals has crafted a rock n' roll sound best described as heavy Americana. For a decade the band has gigged relentlessly, performing nearly 125 shows per year and bringing their songbook of gritty Delta blues, soulful boogie, and backwoods psychedelia to audiences across the States and abroad.

The creative energy of the band's live shows has earned them a loyal fan base and critical acclaim. Jeff Massey performs with a passion that can belie his virtuosity. His masterful guitar work, often featuring slide, has won the respect of many modern guitar luminaries. The rhythm section's rock-solid interplay provides a foundation which liberates Massey's lead work: Joe Winters swings beats with total command of his ferocity while Tod Bowers rolls out bass lines with the loose-boogie sensibility of Ronnie Lane and a knack for carrying the melody. Years of musical collaboration allow the band to play together tautly without sacrificing spontaneity.

The Steepwater Band has released three full-length records, and each album has garnered substantial radio airplay across the Midwest, including on Chicago's influential WXRT. Their songs have been placed in network television shows, a major motion picture, and a 3 year national ad campaign that debuted during the World Series. The trio regularly headlines such prestigious Chicago venues as the Metro and the Double Door while expanding their touring base throughout the Midwest and beyond. They have shared the stage with acts as diverse as Buddy Guy, Wilco, Gov't Mule, Cheap Trick, The Redwalls, Taj Mahal, Bon Jovi, Rose Hill Drive, Bad Company, King’s X, Drive-By Truckers, and Heart. In 2005, the band made its European debut, performing at the Azkena Rock Festival in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain, and returned the following two years for club-and-festival tours to heavily attended shows.

It was a serendipitous meeting at a Black Crowes concert that brought friends Winters and Bowers together with Massey. A decade later in May ‘08, the three found themselves in California recording Grace and Melody, their fourth full-length studio album, with Grammy winnerMarc Ford as producer-the musician widely regarded as The Black Crowes' finest guitarist and integral to their prime years. The Steepwater Band met Ford while sharing a bill at a festival in Spain in the summer of '07. They invited Ford to sit in on Neil Young's "Cortez the Killer," a song banned in Spain for years. A friendship was forged and Ford expressed interest in collaborating with the band shortly after producing the critically acclaimed debut album from Ryan Bingham,Mescalito (Lost Highway 2007).

Grace and Melody was recorded in just nine days at the organic and inspiring Compound Studios in Long Beach, California. With Ford's direction, the band dug deeper into the swamp and grit of their past records while exploring new influences that give the new record a fresh sound. From the top-down catchiness of "Lord Knows," to the extended guitar jam of "Waiting To Be Offended," to the hypnotic bounce of "Healer" and Lennonesque strum of "One Way Ride," this album runs the gamut of rock n’ roll roots with progressive style. Songwriting has long been a strength for The Steepwater Band, but it has never been more palpable than on Grace and Melody.

This is Der Schöne Jan, Makke, Benis and Mr C, and we are THE DRIFTWOOD FAIRYTALES, Berlin's first All-Fool Band. The four of us played and still play in some other bands but this is rather boring to speak about here. Still you gotta know, that this is an attempt. An attempt to write simple and good music.

You may say, "Oh my God, these fellas are so far away from achieving that goal", and I'd say, "Yeah, you are goddamn right!" However, today, like in Confucian times, the long and stony road has always been so much more interesting than finally reaching the goal.
And so, here we are, not sticking to any categories that are just lame, but trying to take the best of everything we feel, hear, see, or percept in any other way.

"The Ninja Strikes Back" is tremendously entertaining, delivering sleazy and action-packed incidents from start to finish. A fight on the steps of Rome, a freeze-frame decapitation, a balding businessman being overpowered by drug addled nymphomaniacs, and a topless woman sunning herself on a beach only to then be shot at by a sniper are buy some of the many highlights.

The kidnapping of an ambassador's daughter by two thugs, one of whom s dressed in drag, is the main raison d'etre for the globe-trotting exploits of Bruce Le in an endless succession of fight scenes and travelogue shots of Rome, Hong Kong, and Paris, where Bruce takes a detour to the fleshpots of Pigalle and ends up exchanging blows on the set of a French porn film.

The Köpenicker Str. 137 was squatted on the 23.02.1990. Short time before that, the house stopped being rented. The house didn`t got torn down, how it was planned, because of the squatting. In summer 1991 there was made a pre-contract with the administrator of the estate, the W.B.M. (housing association Berlin-Mitte), for the use of all rooms. The contract included measures for D.I.Y. building up as well as making single contracts for the housing space.
On the 01.05.1993 there were made unlimited contracts for the housing space, with the new administrator of the estate, the G.S.E. (association for urban development).

Oh hey, I'm LIGHTS--a fairly small-sized, Canadian girl who makes intergalactic-electro music. What do I mean by intergalactic? I'm glad you asked. I try to find sounds that seem like they could have been plucked from Saturn's rings or a meteor belt. Equal parts fantastical/epic/beautiful/emotional. As a kid I moved around a lot. To find some form of consistency, I had to find a place that always stayed the same. Concocting music became that world to me and I escaped there any chance I got. It started with just me and the guitar. Then, I moved on to drums, piano, and then the keyboard. When I started realizing the limitless possibilities that synthetic instruments presented, I invested in a little 8-track mixer. I was thirteen. I began the process of transferring what was in my head into something solid. After drifting around and dabbling in different musical genres throughout my teen years, I finally landed on the so-called "electro-pop" planet I live on now. I unleashed a little taster of my work in the early months of 2008 as an EP but the songs kept coming...I couldn't stop them. And the more I made, the easier it became to convey how I felt through simple lyrics juxtaposed with sounds harvested from the far reaches of my alternate universe. Finally I sat back and listened to everything I had feverishly created over the past years, and I was happy. I realized I had discovered more about myself when I was just listening and creating music than from anything else. And for every minute of song that passed through my head, I was reminded of that realization, and it felt special. I called this first full collection of music, "The Listening." I hope that it makes you feel special too..

Little man - the work, fatherhood and madness of Wilhelm Reich.

Multigenre interactive performance for one actor (Howard Lotker) - with projection and live-drawing - inspired by the eccentric character of Freud's talented student, W. Reich. The performance explores the human need to be oriented by strong beliefs, and what happens to us when we lose those compass points. Through their input and participation, the audience becomes an active co-creator of a performance which is different every time. Also onstage are an artist and projectionist, sound designer DJ, and lighting designer who perform as well.

Together everyone explores the borderlands between our faith in human kind's ability to change ourselves and the world for the better, and the constant disappointments in our everyday struggle.

HoME o.s. is a group of artists that examines contemporary life though the lens of theater, performance, fine arts, and movement, while also emphasizing play and audience involvement in their productions. HoME creates performances for theaters, streets, modes of transportation, indoor and outdoor site-specific locations, as well as for peoples' apartments. HoME received a “Project of the Year” award at the Next Wave festival in 2006 for the meta-theatrical site specific performance project DoMA/at HoME.

2003: Johannes Nowak (Coney Noise), Christian Döpping (The Natural Craze) and Johannes Döpping (Osis Krull) suddenly started a dangerous and degenerate friendship...

Rising from hypnotic sessions, a motley collection of different song structures evolves. In the diverting to epic songs of Tarentatec you can find elements of postrock, stoner, noise, psychedelic, elektronika and jazz, which they interweave intuitively anew.

2006: (Spring) the first record... Jonas Reinhardt (Rip of Junkies) knocked in Tarentatec as an additional singer

2006: (December) the 7-Song-EP "Baracke 5" infiltrated the government

2008: (Spring) Split-CD "The Candy And Springtime Experience" with our hateful rivals "Osis Krull"... Lars Mäurer joined the band on rhodes and organ

2008: During the "candy and springtime" tour in may Patrick Döpping (now punishing the bass in Tarentatec) started an intrigue with serious concequences... blood brother Johannes Nowak sadly left the band... But he did not leave the planet! Hopefully there will be a future mainstream-underground project bringing the friends back together to take revenge on the evil...

2009: Discovering the fear to Marbach Records during our "World Championship Tour" with Schnaak and Mukra... doing a lot of gigs and working on secret recipes in faking courage

2010: There will be a Eurodance Tour with Osis Krull and Mukra in wintertime... apart from that all our energie is focused on working on the masterplan

The trio/quartet/big band oscillates between widescreen sound and minimalism; instrumental short stories and dry rock'n'rolling; snapshot and steamroller. Musical patterns are being reflected by all members – own ways within rock music are being explored. Besides, the way of Tarentatec, if there is any direction, is always a tightrope walk between convention and the unreserved search for freedom.
Regarding content, Tarentatec is the muddled look at their own environment, the contradictions and doubts, but also the affectionate consideration of friendship and pleasure – in a constant dialog between head and belly.

Trashcat began as an idea in late 2006, to be an alternative sound within the underground music scene in London. Formed by Darragh from The Restarts, Trashcat are a three chord punk rock & roll experience who rely on a broader base of influences.

After many months composing and recording Trashcat is now finally on the map of rock & roll with their debut CD release. With Darragh (Restarts) on lead vocals and guitar, Goz (Headjam)on bass, with drumming performances by Eric (53rd & 3rd/King Salami) and backing vocals provided by Robin and Mark (Restarts/Short Bus Window Lickers) this new release promises to deliver more fist in the air rock & roll.

I was admitted to the Jaroslav Jezek Conservatory in Prague at the age of 14 and graduated in 2003. Than I continued my studies for three years at the Post-Secondary School of Jazz with professors Filip Gondolán and other great Czech musicians such as Najponk, David Doruzka, Jaromír Honzák.

I appeared first in Prague jazz clubs with the band of René Trossman, a blues guitar player from Chicago.

I am also interested in the music of Latin America as well as other genres. Brazilian bossa nova and jazz songs are the main elements in my duo repertoire, in which I am accompanied by my husband, guitarist Libor Smoldas.

Libor Smoldas featured in my new project ZEURÍTIA (my pseudo), together with basist Ondrej Podhajský and drummer Tomás Vokurka. The repertoir is mostly reminiscent of Joao Gilberto songs, but also inspired by contemporary artists as Eliane Elias, Oscar Castro-Neves, Laura Figy or Mariza. Bossa nova tunes are also blended with couple of jazz songs in the repertoir of the band. Later I had been taking lessons with Aga Zaryan, which is the great jazz Polish singer, in The International Prague Jazz Workshop at 2008. When I was in New York City in March 2009 I also took lessons from Peter Eldridge ( Manhattan School of Music, New York Voices, Moss).

Werner Herzog is a German cinema legend, and yet he has received little recognition in his home country in recent years. Now the director is finally back in Germany, where he is heading the jury at this year's Berlin International Film Festival. As usual, the maverick filmmaker is doing things his way.

As Werner Herzog looks around the movie theater, he sees hundreds of young people jammed into the rows of seats, sitting on the steps and squatting on the floor in front of the podium where he is standing. More are clustered around the monitors set up outside the theater doors. The famous German director has come to the Thessaloniki International Film Festival, where his audience of film students is hoping for advice on how to make films. He gazes at them from his deep-set eyes, which have something enormously menacing about them.

"You want to become filmmakers?" Herzog asks. "Then you'll have to be ruthless. You'll have to steal and forge documents, because bureaucracy is the worst enemy of film." The students laugh nervously. To them, Herzog must seem like a US Army recruiter, except that he is German, which is much more intimidating.

"But most of all," says Herzog, "get a job. Be a bouncer in a sex club, as far as I'm concerned. You have to acquire talent -- through life." The students look around self-consciously. "Cinema knows no mercy!" Herzog adds. Meanwhile Fred Astaire dances cheerfully on the screen behind him.

'Starving for Images'

Last year Time included Herzog in its list of the 100 most influential people on the planet -- the only German on the list apart from Chancellor Angela Merkel. "Herzog believes our world is 'starving for images.' He tries to feed us," wrote the film critic Roger Ebert in the Time tribute.

Herzog was nominated for an Oscar in 2009 for his documentary about Antarctica, "Encounters at the End of the World," and the London Times counts his 2005 documentary "Grizzly Man" about American Timothy Treadwell, who lived among grizzly bears, as one of the five best films of the last decade. And now Herzog is even shooting films with Hollywood's biggest stars. In his new film "Bad Lieutenant," which premieres in German theaters on Feb. 25, Nicholas Cage plays a drug-addicted police officer in New Orleans.

No other living German director is so well regarded internationally -- except for in Germany itself. He has somewhat faded into obscurity there, he says, moving his hands like a maestro directing himself. He speaks as if he wants to avoid at all costs making the impression that he harbors any grudges. Perhaps this is because he is now returning to Germany as the president of the jury at the 2010 Berlin International Film Festival, which begins Thursday. It's supposed to be a nonchalant triumph.

The last time Herzog attended the festival was in 1992, when he presented the film "Lessons of Darkness," which dealt with burning oil wells in Kuwait. "I was shouted down and spat at, and the audience was unanimously against me. I heard outraged accusations that I was applying aesthetics to horror. My only response was that Goya and Hieronymus Bosch did the same thing." Herzog smiles. "That furious disagreement was invigorating."

The Secret Catalogue of Our Dreams

The reason why Herzog is often met with hostility in Germany is the same reason he is celebrated by the rest of the world, namely his Titanic nature. Herzog doesn't make films -- he heaves images up onto the screen. For his film "Fitzcarraldo" (1982), he had a river steamer pulled over a mountain in the Peruvian rainforest and in the process created one of the greatest and most iconographic images in the history of film. "A steamship being dragged over a mountain in the jungle -- it's an image that remains planted in the minds of many people," he says. "Viewers recognize it like a friend they have been longing to see. It was an image that belongs to the fixed, secret catalogue of our dreams, and I was the one who brought it to life and gave it a name."

This seems to be the way Herzog has seen himself from the start: as an obstetrician present during the birth of greatness. He never had any interest in creating something banal or mediocre. To find images no one had seen before him, he went to the hottest deserts, the thickest jungles and the coldest expanses of ice. And he did so with a relentlessness that earned him the reputation in Germany of being more or less insane.

"Insanity?" he asks. "No, I don't move in that danger zone."

Suicide Mission

But that, of course, isn't true. Herzog is at home in the danger zone. It's where he lives, and he likes living there. In 1976, when he heard about the imminent eruption of the La Soufrière volcano on Guadeloupe, he flew there immediately. "Now that was a suicide mission," says his cameraman, Jörg Schmidt-Reitwein. "The earth at our feet became hotter and hotter, and yet we went to the edge of the crater and peed inside."

Herzog's daredevilry may have something to do with his origins and his childhood in the southern Bavarian mountains. "I was part of a gang of children from isolated farms in the neighborhood," he recalls. "There were no toys, so we had to make them. There were no games, so we had to invent them. And there were no fathers. They had either been shot dead in the war or, as in the case of my father, had simply disappeared. At the time, we perceived the absence of authority figures as something that was particularly pleasant."

Herzog developed clear ideas about manliness. As a boy, he learned how to shoot, hiked to the point of exhaustion and decided that the cinema was an athletic discipline that required one trait above all else: courage. When Herzog wants to insult someone, he calls him a coward, because a coward would never be ruthless, would never steal or forge documents.

Confronting Nature

When Herzog made his first documentary films and feature films in the 1960s, he was seen as part of the New German Cinema, a movement of auteurs who rebelled against the conservative cinema of the 1950s. But if there is one thing that makes Herzog uncomfortable, it's the idea of being part of a movement.

"I never really felt that I was a part of the New German Cinema," he says. "The only thing we had in common was that we were the first generation after the Nazi atrocities that spoke out independently. I never had an affinity for student revolts. They usually involved upper-class kids who were supposedly speaking for the working class, but who had never worked a single day in a factory."

Herzog didn't make the slightest effort to criticize the German status quo in his films. He shot his movies in such far-flung places as the islands of Crete and Lanzarote, Tanzania and Peru. By the time he had made his first feature film in Germany, the student revolts had ended. He was dismissed as a hopeless romantic, someone who fled into nature to escape civilization.

Indeed, Herzog the director is in his element in nature. The raging rivers on which his characters fought to survive, in films like "Aguirre, the Wrath of God" (1972) and "Fitzcarraldo," are in a sense longer and wider versions of the creeks he played in as a child. For Herzog, nature is always a force against which he must measure his own strength.

The Destructive Power of Nature

In his magnificent 2004 book "Conquest of the Useless," his journal of the two years he spent making "Fitzcarraldo" in the rainforest, he describes how "stunned" he is by "the incredible power and fury of the rapids." The river has a will of its own, and yet Herzog refuses to bend to it.

There is no such thing as dead nature in Herzog's world. In "Encounters at the End of the World," he listens, spellbound, to the eternal ice, hoping to hear the sound of a calving glacier. Herzog is the only director who would be capable of a remake of James Cameron's 1997 movie "Titanic"(1997) -- from the perspective of the iceberg.

Herzog repeatedly portrays the destructive power of nature, as he does in the new film "Bad Lieutenant." In some scenes, New Orleans looks like a sunken city that has just emerged from the floodwaters. But Herzog doesn't direct the eye of the camera to the supposed achievements of civilization, like computer and mobile phones, but to the alligators and lizards that unexpectedly crop up in the plot.

"My relationship with nature is fundamentally unromantic," Herzog stresses. "I used to argue with Kinski about it. 'It's all so erotic!' Kinski would call out in the middle of the jungle. 'No,' I replied. 'Nature isn't erotic, it's obscene.' And Kinski, as if trying to prove how erotic nature is, put his arms around a tree and started copulating with it."

Uncontrollable Force

In Klaus Kinski, Herzog found the same uncontrollable, elemental force that had always attracted him to the wilderness. He made six films with the actor between 1970 and 1987. In his "Fitzcarraldo" journal, Herzog often switches from his descriptions of the jungle to Kinski's fits of rage. The actor, who was the subject of Herzog's 1999 documentary "My Best Fiend," was "Herzog's great unrequited love," says Thomas Mauch, the cinematographer on "Aguirre" and "Fitzcarraldo."

Kinski berated Herzog as a "dwarf director." During the filming of "Fitzcarraldo," Kinski went into such fits of rage that the indigenous people who were working as extras on the film offered to kill the actor on Herzog's behalf. SPIEGEL reporter Fritz Rumler wrote about the filming at the time that Kinski had "acquired, through shouting, the nickname 'Adolf' in the camp." Nevertheless, Kinski was at his best under Herzog's direction.

"As I stand here before you," Kinski says in one of the most famous scenes from "Fitzcarraldo," "I will bring great opera to the jungle one day! I am in the majority! I am the billions! I am the spectacle in the forest!" These sentences, uttered in a voice of controlled rage that only Kinski was capable of, are Werner Herzog's manifesto.

In his films, Herzog has always sought out protagonists who feel like God's loneliest human beings: the ski jumper Walter Steiner, who stands at the top of the jump and then appears to fly across the world; the blind and deaf Fini Straubinger, who can neither see nor hear her fellow human beings; the art-obsessed Fitzcarraldo, who is determined to bring opera into the wilderness; and the constantly strung-out lieutenant Terence McDonagh, stumbling through the world as if anaesthetized.

If one believes his narratives, Herzog is often alone, and yet he is always in the majority. In the "Fitzcarraldo" diaries, he often points out how lonely he felt. "He was in fact the only person who believed that it is possible to haul a steamship over a mountain," says Mauch.

Walking Himself into Intoxication

The only way to truly come close to Herzog is to follow his self-mythologizing as a lonely combatant, fighting, to the point of total exhaustion, for his films and his convictions. In 1974, when film historian Lotte Eisner, one of Herzog's idols, was ill and near death in Paris, the director walked from Munich to the French capital in the middle of the winter.

"It was clear to me that if I did it, Eisner wouldn't die," he says. "It wasn't superstition, however, but something the Catholic Church calls assurance of salvation -- an expression one should treat with great caution. I wasn't surprised that Lotte Eisner had already been released from the hospital when I arrived in Paris."

In 1984, when former German Chancellor Willy Brandt seemed to be distancing himself from the goal of reunification, Herzog walked around Germany, "always carefully following the border, because it was clear now that only poets could provide unity." He walked from southern Bavaria to the Danish border, but then he fell ill and had to abandon the undertaking. Nevertheless, it had been enough: The Berlin Wall came down five years later.

Herzog has a penchant for walking himself into ecstasy. He is not interested in excessive drinking or drug abuse. For him, intoxication is something that takes hard work, even suffering. After "a few kilometers on foot I know that I have taken leave of my senses," Herzog writes in his book "Of Walking in Ice," an account of his trek from Munich to Paris. "That knowledge comes from the soles of my feet."

The world becomes accessible to those who walk, he tells the students who have made the pilgrimage to Thessaloniki to hear him speak. Herzog, who once ate one of his shoes in front of hundreds of people, tells them about the sensation of hunger and exhaustion, and about how one penetrates more deeply in the real world with every step of a trek. He speaks with an extremely authoritative voice that sometimes sounds as if it were coming directly from the Biblical burning bush.

'I Am the Hornet that Stings'

Herzog doesn't believe that a documentary filmmaker has to suppress his subjectivity. "I'm not a fly on the wall that simply observes," he says. "I am the hornet that stings." There is no "yes, but" in his universe, no qualifying, no making allowances for things. "I believe the common denominator of the universe is not harmony but chaos, hostility and murder," he says in the narration of "Grizzly Man." Timothy Treadwell, the subject of the film, believed that the bears loved him. But then they devoured him.

The truth, says Herzog, doesn't emerge on its own, but through staging, even in documentary films. There is no other filmmaker who violates the boundary between the documentary film and the feature film as consistently as Herzog. This led to a clash of cultures during the shooting of his first Hollywood feature, "Rescue Dawn" (2006), when some members of the team objected to his method.

"Werner hates anything artificial," says Peter Zeitlinger, who has been Herzog's cameraman since the mid-1990s. "That's why he's constantly running away from the sluggish Hollywood system. He ignores the fact that there are hundreds of people on the set. We grab the camera and, with three or four people, shoot somewhere away from the hustle and bustle. Werner never takes the paved road, but always the dirt track."

'Wildly Anarchic'

Herzog requires minimal budgets and very little time for his films. "Werner is the faster director I've ever worked with," says Eva Mendes, who plays the girlfriend of the Nicolas Cage character in "Bad Lieutenant." The film, which is loosely based on Abel Ferrara's dark 1992 thriller "Bad Lieutenant," is a jarring and dirty crime movie that takes every possible detour from the plot.

"The film is full of life and wildly anarchic. There is a very distant echo of a Bavarian soul behind it," says Herzog. "I've never abandoned my culture. I shoot Bavarian films, no matter where I am." What's the difference between a German and a Bavarian film? "It's like the difference between Kaiser Wilhelm of Prussia and Ludwig II of Bavaria," he says, in a reference to the famously eccentric Bavarian monarch who built Neuschwanstein castle.

And now he is traveling to Berlin, the city of Kaiser Wilhelm, where he will have to watch at least 20 films in 10 days, more than he usually watches in an entire year. "Judging films isn't quite kosher. It's the kind of thing you do with prize cattle at an agricultural fair." But Herzog wouldn't be true to form if he simply accepted the rules as they were.

"I'm trying to introduce an unusual voting procedure," he says. "It's similar to the way votes were held during the medieval monastic reforms." Under his plan, each member of the jury will receive one additional vote when making the awards, "to give more weight to one of his or her decisions." In other words, a jury member will be able to make his voice heard, even if he or she is not in the majority.

It's the old Herzog principle: Always in the minority, but still ending up in the majority.

Nitro 17 – Rock’n Roll Reloaded Nitro 17 might not be a household name yet, but people in the industry sure know the line-up and crowds in their hometown at the last concert had one of Berlins hottest clubs close down on a normally rather quiet Friday night, leaving fans standing outside. The four musicians who certainly stand their grounds founded the band in 2004: Singer Jo Fischer (former singer of: Desperado Five) is expressing an astonishing variety and depth in his voice that is easily at home in deep ballades, roaring rock songs, or high pitched Ska, sending his fans home with goosebumps all over. Guitar hero Tex Morton, for more than 20 years in the business (e.g. with Mad Sin, Sunny Domestozs) knows all e-guitar-brands of the last 65 years with their first name and plays some licks that let not only the female fans melt down. Bass-player Ralph Summers tours regular with (Spo-dee-o-dee) through Europe and the USA brings a really unusual note to the already extraordinary line-up. While drummer Stephane Doucerainz who beat the Skins for Nikki Sudden (till he passed away) and a pro-musician for more than 10 years made his way from Paris to join the new formation. Within the first half year of the bands existence, the boys played already 20 shows in front of enthusiastic crowds which led to a record deal for their first mini album produced by the great Moses Schneider (Beatsteaks, Tocotronic, Mediengruppe Telekommander) Released in 2007 the album set the blogs abuzz, with raving reviews about a unique new style in music history, and the album was sold out in between 6 month. Meanwhile the band continued touring Germany, Switzerland and Belgium, and even opened up for the Leningrad Cowboys. By the end of 2007, the band found itself in the studio again, recording a new record for Drunkabily Rec. that will be released in September 2008 and distributed in Germany, and the UK by Plastic Head. The new songs have the presence of many musical influences, with a progressive edge that could very well define a new standard in the industry we like to call: „Rock-n Roll reloaded“. The band is due to enter the West Coast this fall.

Overkill is an American thrash metal band, formed in 1980 in New Jersey. The band has been active since 1984, releasing 15 studio albums, 2 EPs, 2 live albums and a "covers" album. The band also has a notable mascot (named Chaly), a skeletal bat with a skull-like face, bony wings, and green eyes. It has appeared on most of their album covers. Overkill has gone through many line-up changes, with singer Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth and bassist D.D. Verni remaining the only consistent members. Along with Anthrax (whose one-time lead guitarist, Dan Spitz, was also an early member of Overkill), the band is one of the most successful East coast thrash metal bands.

Suicidal Angels (thrash metal) were formed in 2001 and after many line up changes the band's members now are: Nick (vocals/guitar), Panos (guitar), Angel (bass), Orfeas (drums).

Savage Messiah is an English thrash metal/heavy metal band formed in May 2007 in London.[1] The band was formed by guitarist and lead vocalist Dave Silver, the band also consists of guitarist Sy Taplin, bassist Sasha Cron and drummer Ernie Nogara. Their debut album Spitting Venom was released on 1 October, 2007 by SMR Productions to generally positive reviews.

Cripper - this name is standing for a thrash oriented project from Hanover / Germany. The five band members get together in 2005 to take the stages of this world to pieces. Not just musically the five metalheads are pulling together, they even remain at the wheel concerning organisatory matters and a visually elaborated realisation. Catchy grooves and musical diversification do not leave any desire unfulfilled. The balance between fast blasts, asskicking moshparts, aggressive shouts, tricky guitar riffs and vivid solo parts result in a felicitous final impact. Thereby Cripper combines old school thrash, melodic death and wide-ranging song structures achieving an explosive mixture.

ect Talco was first conceived by Tomaso De Mattia. Since 2002 Talco have made frequent live appearances, which have allowed the band to enjoy an increasing degree of popularity and play alongside Modena City Ramblers, Los Fastidios, Blisterhead, Linea 77, Banda Bassotti, Atarassia Grop, Obrint Pas, Punkreas, Persiana Jones, Arpioni, Ska-j and Derozer (among others). To this day, Talco has recorded two albums, both of which were produced and distributed in Italy and Europe by Kob Records and Mad Butcher Records, with the support of Venus Dischi. The first, “Tutti assolti” (2004), was well received by the music press in Italy, Germany, France, Spain, the Cech Republic and Mexico, and sold over 2,000 copies. The second album, “Combat Circus”, was released in November 2006, and was likewise positively acclaimed in Italian and European fan- and webzines, including Rockerilla, Rock Sound and Negative. Talco are among the best known Italian ska-punk bands, and have a particularly strong fan-base in Germany, where Talco gig tickes are regularly sold out. - February 2000 – June 2001: this is the first phase in the history of the band, which is known at this time by the name Talco Mentolato. Starting with the “Lugo Ska Festival” in Romagna in the summer of 2000, Talco made their music known across Italy. In April 2001, the band was awarded the first prize in the Venetian musical contest “Aurora on Stage”. In June of the same year, the first demo of the band was released, consisting of 6 ska-core tracks recorded at the Lesder Studio of Treviso. - July 2001 – October 2003: Following a few changes in its line-up, the band consolidates and develops into a more concrete musical project, adopting the name of Talco. Moving away from its “careless” salad days, the band embraced the kind of political awareness which still characterises. Two years of concerts followed, starting from a gig at Ponte delle Alpi (Bridgestock) alongside Alberto Camerini (a gig attended by over 3,000 people). Talco played at various other events, including demonstrations, such as the one organised in its hometown Marghera to raise awareness of local environmental issues. - November 2003 – April 2006: The band temporarily interrupts its live performances to record 10 ska-punk tracks at the Majestic Studio of Scorzè (VE). Kob Records of Verona immediately offered to release the album, with the help of the German label Mad Butcher. At this time, Talco slightly changed their line-up, and began its first tour abroad. Back from Germany, the band’s first album, “Tutti assolti” was released, and followed by a tour across Italy and a gig in Berlin, where Talco performed live at an event organised to commemorate the G8 protest in Genoa. The band also performed at several Kob Festivals alongside Los Fastidios. “Tutti assolti” was acclaimed by the public, and received many favourable reviews even outside Italy. A second and surprisingly successful German tour followed, to celebrate the first anniversary of the album (1,500 new copies of which were released). Talco was afforded the chance to play in many other gigs abroad – including the Punkitalia Festival in Berlin (with Banda Bassotti, Persiana Jones, Punkreas, Linea 77, Derozer, Atarassia Grop, Betagarri, Obrint Pas etc.) – by the help of Mauro “Due Forni” e Franco da Berlino (both working for the German booking agency “Muttis” and actively engaged in organising the performance of bands such as Banda Bassotti, Modena City Ramblers, Punkreas, Lag Wagon, Pennywise and Ska-p). After their return from Germany, Talco engaged in a tour across Italy before recording the new album. - May 2006 - Talco return to the Majestic Studio to record a new album, which is released in October 2006. Following the release, Talco left for a new tour abroad, and performed in Berlin as the key band at the “Skapunkitalia Festival 2006”, alongside many German bands and the Italian band Arpioni. “Combat Circus”, released by Kob Records and Mad Butcher Records, and distributed by Venus, was given excellent media exposure and many positive reviews on musical magazines (Rockerilla, Rock Sound, Negative, etc.). To accompany the album, the band recorded a single: a video of the song “La Carovana”, which was produced with the help of director Giuseppe Tufarolo of MTV. Talco are currently switching between their ongoing Italian tour and gigs abroad: in Germany (e.g. at the anti-G8 demo in Berlin), Spain, Switzerland and Eastern Europe. Talco are a decidedly anti-Fascist and anti-racist ska-punk band, which believes in the independence of music and in the message music should convey to oppose all forms of discrimination.

“Cani da birra” were born in the far 2001; in that period Panesalame would buy a bagpipes and constitute an Oi/folk band like Dropkick Murphiys' style, but because of an accident he had to spend all his savings to redo his car's side. During a concert, Pane introduced his friend Sciacopo to Franz, and so, the three, decided to constitute the band. They do some concerts and recorded the first demo. Some time later joined the group the legendary Rude Fil to replace Panesalame at the bass ...and so finally the band complete is: Panesalame at the voice, Franz at the guitar, Fil at the bass and Sciacopo at the drums. After a couple years of concerts, due to personal reasons, Fil and Sciacopo had to leave the band. Gio replaced Sciacopo at the drums So for about two years “Cani da Birra” kept on play with this formation: Pane at the voice and bass, Franz at the guitar and Gio at the drum. In 2007 they asked Klod, a friend, to come to be part of the band ...he accepted and whit this composition they played in a lot of italian towns and realities: Milan, Livorno, Florence, Lugano. In 2009 they finally decided to enter in a recording studio to record the new album “...Non Dimentichiamo, Non Perdoniamo...”, that is ready at the end of november 2009 and whose songs you can listen on this page. In September 2009 Cani da Birra became five ...Raffa, a new guitarist, whit previous experience in other punk and hardcore bands, became part of the band ...so now the group is complete:-Panesalame voice - Franz guitar - Raffa guitar - Klod bassguitar - Gio drum - ... a 60s trash low-fi inferno with a pinch of punk

THE MONOFONES were founded in 2007 by three maniacs, who all come from a different musical background. While the guitarist Sir Hamesly is a dedicated fan of Heavy Metal, Blues, Gospel and all the notorious 80’s Hardrock Bands, the drummer El Miguel owns a large collection of 60’s garage soul and trash LPs and the most awful German Schlager you can imagine. Miss O.O. seems to refuse growing up and loves all the English and American Indie, Garage and Punk bands which are usually preferred by teenagers. Both Sir Hamesly and El Miguel are experienced musicians, as the former plays with THE FUCKADIES and as the latter used to play the drums for THE NEVER EVERS. Miss O.O. did not have any musical experience as such, but when Sir Hamesly and El Miguel were looking for a singer this did not really matter, as the two were obviously heavily impressed with Miss O.O.’s cleavage and its content. Because of the size of this content, Sir Hamesly and El Miguel have actually failed to notice until today, that Miss O.O. is a lousy singer…. but that’s another story. Influenced by their different musical backgrounds THE MONOFONES play a mixture of 60’s garage trash punk-inferno disco-massacre kind of thing. This is done with a rumbling drum, a heavily distorted Gretsch guitar which sounds like a John Deere tractor shortly before kicking the bucket and a female voice by which you wouldn't like to be told off. The shows of THE MONOFONES guarantee not only a low-fi inferno of a different kind but are also highly amusing, as all the MONOFONES members are rather openhearted and blabbermouthed.

Blood or Whiskey are from Dublin, Ireland and mix Traditional Irish music with Punk Rock, the band have released 3 albums 'Blood or Whiskey' (2000), 'No time to explain' (2002), and 'Cashed Out On Culture' (2005).

The first few years of the band was spent playing all around Ireland perfecting their own unique sound, before taking it seriously and setting their sights outside the Emerald Isle.

Trips all over England, Europe and America have followed in the last few years and to date the band have toured and played with many artists including Manu Chao, The Pogues, Rancid, Anti - Flag, The Stranglers, Dropkick Murphys, Stiff Little fingers, Levellers, The Beat, Bad Manners, Misfits and Hayseed Dixie to name but a few.

Blood or Whiskey have also had some very difficult times along the way with original vocalist Barney Murray leaving in 2002, Jim Borek going to prison in 2003 and Tin Whistle player Alan Confrey dying suddenly in 2006.

The band have also recently come out of a 3 year legal battle with their former record label, in the process getting the masters to the ‘Cashed out on Culture’ album returned to the group.

2009 finds the band regrouped, in great shape and fighting fit, getting ready for album number 4, as a taster an EP ‘Live and Learn’ was released in February 2009 with plans for the album proper later in the year.

Things are looking bright again for the band that has had more than its share of ups and downs over the years, but still has the determination, and desire to keep spreading the Blood or Whiskey sound worldwide.

Rock’n Roll, smoking six guns, revolution, death and sexy senioritas… The danish two piece rock act HOLA GHOST and their haunted drum machine release their second album “The Man They Couldn’t Hang”. The album will be out on US-Label Smelvis Records this fall!

HOLA GHOST is a two piece ROCK band, inspired by surf music, mexican folklore, dark disco, psychobilly, B-western movies and what else is out there worth listening to. Overdrive bass intwined with surf guitars and rock’n roll riffs in the face, while the vocal is singing, screaming and crooning its way through songs about B-movie heroes, howling wolves, revenge, hope, and love to alligator girls. On stage HOLA GHOST is a barrel of dynamite, egnited by a cigar butt. Dressed in sombreros, marriachi jackets, bullet belts and bandanas, the two urban guerillas are on the hunt for justice, beauty and ROCK’N ROLL! Driving the band along with psychotic flamencore rythms and pumping surf beats, the drum machine adds a strange disco flavour with its characteristic 1980’ ies sound and superhuman drum play. This makes HOLA GHOST sound like no other acts around!

Biography: HOLA GHOST was formed during the work with the soundtrack for LA bound artist Gris Grimlys’ debut movie “Cannibal Flesh Riot”. At this time the duo didn’t have a drummer, so when they saw a good offer on a drum machine in a pawnshop in LA, they went for it. The old Mexican owner had won the machine in a tequila-soaked poker game in Tijuana, and claimed it was haunted! While working with the first album the rythms started to seem colored by the machines Mexican origin. And when a drum solo was programmed, it was obvious that the drum machine had soul! The machine was named Ghost 707, Hola Ghost have since developed their own sound and show. With the insane drumsolo as one of the highlights the trio has played around the world.

The new album “The Man They Couldn’t Hang” is now out on US-label Smelvis Records.
