Blue Valentines (Berlin):

Blue Valentines hold true to a Pleistocene sense of experimentation, interpreting the songs of Tom Waits with instrumentation including a percussion section which has featured the jawbone of an ass, babydoll heads played over large cheese-graters, bullwhips cracked on sheet metal and large pieces of firewood.

Kadé Chim (Prague):

The Prague/Pilsen based band Kadé Chim does not play klezmer despite the name. They play raw Heart-of-Europe folk infused with punk energy and melodic worldbeat influences, particularly of the Balkan and Irish vein. They’re most likely to be found playing in grungy pubs surrounded by dancers in a state of semi-psychosis.

Mamasweed (Berlin):

Produced in 2006 by Gordon Raphael (The Strokes) for “Electric Zeppelin”, Kreuzberg’s neo-hempsters Mamasweed are power fusion pop. Their contagious sound is a mix of afro-reggae beats, 60’s inspired rock’n’roll and a bit of rabblerousing thrown in for good measure.

Tower of Dudes (Prague):

The Tower of Dudes is an international cow-punk band based in Prague, Czech Republic. This unconventional quintet and their eclectic range of instrumentation; accordion, mandolin, banjo, melodika, glockenspiel and other musical tackle, has been classified as Anti-Intellectual, Anti-Folk, Cow-Punk, and Folk-punk…and occasionally quarantined.

Trunk Show (Berlin):

Trunk Show is a collection of costumes, trinkets, ornaments, props, facades, old boots, love-letters, leftover baggage, and forgotten characters. There’s a hot plate, eggs, bacon, baked beans, bourbon-soaked bread pudding, and strong coffee…this is what the music sounds like.

Mathias Traxler was born in 1973 in Basel. Since 1999 he has been living in Berlin. 2006 he was invited to the 14th open mike of the literaturwerkstatt in Berlin. His texts have been published in EDIT (No.43/44) and Ostragehege (No.45)

Mathias Traxler se narodil v roce 1973 v Basileji. Od roku 1999 žije v Berlíně. V roce 2006 byl účastníkem 14. open mike v berlínské literaturwerkstatt. Jeho texty byly uveřejněny v časopisech EDIT (č. 43/44) a Ostragehege (č. 45).

Mathias Traxler wurde am 1973 in Basel geboren. Er lebt seit 1999 in Berlin. Er war 2006 Teilnehmer des 14 .open mike der literaturwerkstatt in Berlin. Seine Texte sind zuletzt erschienen in EDIT (Nr.43/44) und Ostragehege (Nr.45).

ALISTAIR NOON (Berlin)
Alistair Noon was born in 1970, grew up near London, and has been based in Berlin since the early nineties. His poems, reviews and translations from German, Russian and Chinese have appeared in various print and online magazines and anthologies. www.myspace.com/alistairnoon

Alistair Noon, Jahrgang 1970, wuchs in der Nähe von London auf und wohnt seit den frühen neunziger Jahren in Berlin. CATHERINE HALES (Berlin)
Catherine Hales lives in Berlin. Her poetry, translations and reviews have been widely published. Her pamphlet 'out of mind' appeared in 2006. She co-edits 'Bordercrossing Berlin' magazine and co-organises the 'Poetry Hearings' festival.

Catherine Hales žije v Berlíně. Její poezie, překlady a kritiky se staly hojně publikovanými. Její brožura 'mimo mysl' byla uveřejněna v roce 2006. Pracuje jako co-editorka v časopise 'Bordercrossing Berlin' a podílí se na organizaci festivalu 'Poetry Hearnings'.

Catherine Hales lebt in Berlin. Ihre Gedichte, Übertragungen und Buchbesprechungen sind vielerorts erschienen. Ihr Pamphlet 'aus dem sinne' erschien 2006. Sie ist Mitherausgeberin der Zeitschrift 'Bordercrossing Berlin' und Mit-Organisatorin des 'Poetry Hearings' Festivals.

CHRIS CRAWFORD (Prague)
Chris Crawford was born in Glasgow in 1974. He was an engineer on various oilrigs and survey vessels in the Gulf of Mexico. His work has been published in Blatt, Provokator, the upcoming The Prague Revue and will be shown with the photographs of Dana Wilson in the Contact Toronto Photography Exhibit.

Chris Crawford se narodil v Glasgow v roce 1974. Působil jako inženýr na různých ropných věžích a výzkumných plavidlech v Mexickém zálivu. Jeho práce byla uveřejněna v listu Provokátor, brzy publikované The Prague Revue a bude vystavena spolu s fotografiemi Dana Wilsona na výstavě Contact Toronto Photography Exhibit.

Chris Crawford wurde 1974 in Glasgow geboren. Er war war als Ingenieur tätig auf verschiedenen Ölförderinseln und Kartographieschiffen im Golf von Mexico. Seine Arbeiten wurden veröffentlicht in „Blatt“, „Provokator“, „The Upcoming“, „The Prague Revue“ und werden zusammen mit Photographien von Dana Wilson in der „Contact Toronto“ Fotoausstellung gezeigt werden.

LUCIEN ZELL (Prague)

Lucien Zell was born in California, but has lived the past 14 years in Europe. He is the author of three collections of poetry, The Sad Cliffs of Light (1998), Eden's Midnight Playground (2003), and Bright Secrets (2006). He currently lives in Prague where he is the lead singer of the alternative rock band The Wavemen.

Lucien Zell se narodil v Kalifornii, ale posledních 14 let žije v Evropě. Je autorem třech sbírek poezie: The Sad Cliffs of Light (1998), Eden's Midnight Playground (2003) a Bright Secrets (2006). Momentálně žije v Praze, kde působí jako vedoucí zpěvák alternativní rockové skupiny The Wavemen.

Lucien Zell wurde in Californien geboren, lebt aber seit 14 Jahren in Europa. Er ist der Verfasser von drei Gedichtsbänden: „The Sad Cliffs of Light“ (1998), „Eden's Midnight Playground“ (2003) und „Bright Secrets“ (2006). Zur Zeit lebt er in Prag und ist der Lead Sänger der alternativ rock band „The Wavemen“.

JOSEF HRUBY (Pilsen)
Josef Hruby was born 10th May 1932 in Cernetice. He was a founding member of the literary group “Cerven 63” in Pilsen. After 1989 he began the foundation of a regional Centre for Authors from Western Bohemia, and won the Bohumil Polana Prize.

Josef Hruby narozen 10. května 1932 v Černěticích u Volyně. Po nuceném odchodu byl zaměstnán v Krajském středisku státní památkové péče v Plzni. Zakládající člen plzeňské literární skupiny Červen 63. Po roce 1989 v Plzni inicioval vznik regionálního Střediska západočeských spisovatelů. Laureát Ceny Bohumila Polana.

Josef Hrubý wurde am 10. Mai 1932 in Černětice bei Volyně (Wollin) geboren. Er ist Gründungsmitglied der Pilsener literarischen Gruppierung „Červen 63“ (Juni 63). Nach 1989 initiierte er die Entstehung des regionalen Zentrums westböhmischer Schriftsteller. Er ist Träger des Bohumil-Polan-Preises.
